Higher education student and staff mobility project
Date du début: 1 juin 2014, Date de fin: 31 mai 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

With social, cultural and computer sciences, engineering and design-based degree programmes, the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam (FHP) offers the finest conditions for forward-looking partnerships in study, research and teaching. The university has an accredited education and training concept, whilst optimal supervision for students as well as a modern infrastructure provide a fantastic framework for international teaching, research, development in cooperation with partners in economy and both public and international higher-education institutions. Under this premise, the FHP has addressed the new priorities of the Erasmus+ programme in its own developmental planning. Likewise, the university has chosen as the central theme for its strategic development "Urban Futures": a thematically open, global and interdisciplinary focal point. Subjects such as urban and regional development, sustainable construction, transport and mobility logistics, informational competency and digitalism, cultural development, urban design, public spaces, interdisciplinary studies and international cooperation projects complement the theoretical and practical aspects of study, teaching and research at the FHP. Moreover, these subjects endow students with key social and communicative skills in independent thinking, which help prepare students for the globalised job market. In the period 2014-16, the FHP used its international network of cooperation partners to tackle global questions and propose international solutions. Working on the basis of the diverse experience gained from international projects and its cooperation network, the FHP has chosen as a new goal in its internationalisation strategy for the next funding period, to focus on training academics and researchers who can compete to meet the needs of the European job market. Additionally, degree programmes at the FHP will be oriented towards new global issues and vocations. The European Education and Training Programme 2014-20 supports this development process by enabling the FHP to consolidate cooperation offers with international partners, pool resources and adjust its structures. The EU Charta has been an important instrument in bringing to life internationalisation strategy of the university. Quality and relevance in university education can only be achieved via international comparison, cooperation, critical discussion and efficient structures; far-sighted direction and balanced funding. The commitment to internationalisation as a holistic key strategy therefore offers the best strategic and practical prerequisite to achieve this goal through concentration and pooling of resources. The core of the FHP’s internationalisation strategy was and continues to be the promotion of mobility and cooperation, the furthering of subject-based discourse to profile the university's degree programmes, the international orientation of curricula and the coordinated development of partners in higher education, science and practice. Moreover, the FHP will accelerate the development of modules for BA and MA degree programmes and help to implement adequate service and control modules. In the next funding period, the FHP will concentrate on the following: 1.A significant increase in the mobility of students (BA/ MA/ Study and Practice Semesters), lecturers, researchers and university staff. The university will promote and accredit exchanges undertaken by the target groups and their contribution to the internationalisation of the university. These mobile persons will be won as disseminators and subject-based advisors and to be active in terms of measures to prepare and support others in their mobility. This requires adequate mobility support on all levels in the university and the development of an intercultural environment. 2.The gradual internationalisation of the curricula and teaching methods at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam in cooperation with existing university partners and those won in the next funding period. The FHP encourages development of international modules and project work covering all aspects of teaching, study and research whilst at the same time supporting so-called “internationalisation at home”. 3.Creating more attractive study conditions for international applicants and students in all phases of study. The university guarantees adequate academic support services for students, lecturers, researchers and service personal that complete exchanges at the university. The FHP will explicitly include regional partners in this process. Within the context of this network-based exchange, education and training, research and enterprise in the interest of excellence and regional development will be brought to its full potential.
