TERMINÉ
The Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences with its (in the reporting period) seven departments on two campuses (Magdeburg and Stendal) has seen internationalisation as an important target and possibility to develop its profile ever since its foundation. Especially the disciplines with the most mobilities, Translation / Interpretation, Journalism, Business Administration and Industrial Design, place a major part of their internationalisation efforts on the European area. There, activities spread over a number of states with emphasis on Spain, France and Scandinavia. The Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences runs more than 90 Inter-institutional Agreements with partner institutions in programme countries, which proves the crucial role of ERASMUS in its internationalisation.
Taking part in the programme, the Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences pursues the targets defined in its internationalisation strategy: Raising the number of mobile students, teaching and other staff and increasing the number of international students and staff on its campuses.
57 outbound mobilities taking place in 14 host countries and at 28 host institutions were carried out altogether in the project of 2014. Of these, 42 were mobilities of students for studying purposes (mainly first cycle), 9 were staff mobilities for teaching purposes and 6 were staff mobilities for training purposes. 39 female and 18 male persons took part in the programme. The university welcomed 63 incoming students (mainly first cycle) from 8 countries and 6 teaching staff on its two campuses in the framework of ERASMUS in the reporting period. A large number of activities were conducted in order to create and develop underlying structures, support participants in an optimum way and advertise the programme.
The number of participants originally planned could not be reached completely. However, a major contribution to achieving the targets of the university's internationalisation strategy was made and the project was completed successfully. As a result, the participants could extend their personal and professional skills in a variety of ways, build networks, exchange examples of good practice and contribute to a cosmopolitan and tolerant society. The university benefits mainly in view of the improvements in the quality and relevance of teaching and learning made. But also by the enhanced working and learning atmosphere and its perception as a carrier of interculturalism and tolerance within the cities of Magdeburg and Stendal and the land of Saxony-Anhalt.
