Date du début: 1 juin 2014, Date de fin: 31 mai 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The University of Kassel considers itself as a European university with an international and intercultural orientation. In its basic understanding internationalisation is not just an optional element, but an explicit goal of development and belongs to the fundamental components of the university. Its concept of internationalisation contains goals such as internationalising teaching and research, promoting the international qualification of its students, increasing the mobility of its lecturers and internationalizing the university administration. The Erasmus programme has proven to be an ideal instrument to achieve these goals. Since the first participation the programme has become an indispensable instrument in the endeavour of internationalisation of the University of Kassel. As part of the project 2014 (2014-1-DE01-KA103-000209) 245 participants recieved financial support. 138 of them completed a Student Mobility for Studies (SMS) at one of our partner universities. The average duration of stay per semester was 5 months and 6 days. A trend towards one semester stays is noticed. 90 participants were female and 48 male. The top choices of countries in the field of SMS were Spain (28 mobilities), Turkey (23 mobilities), and the United Kingdom (14 mobilities). One participant with a child received financial support. 47 of the participants in 2014 did a Student Mobility for Traineeships (SMP). The average duration of the traineeships was 5 months. In this field, too, significantly more women (29) than men (18) were promoted. The most popular destinations were Spain (13 participants), the United Kingdom (9 participants) and France (8 participants). No graduates were promoted in the project 2014 (there are graduates in the 2015 project). 17 lecturers used the programme Staff Mobility for Teaching (STA). 7 of them were female and 10 male. None of the participants went abroad with a child and none of them received extra funding because of a disability. The average duration was 7 days including days of travel. The top choices of countries were Turkey/France (4 mobilities each) and Austria/Italy (3 mobilities each). 35 university members made use of the possibility to broaden their skills in a European country in the frame of Staff Mobility for Training (STT). 20 of them were female and 15 male. There were no participants who went abroad with a child and no special grants were given for participants with disabilities. The average duration was 6 days including days at travel. The most popular destinations were Spain (14 mobilities) and Poland/United Kingdom (4 mobilities each). The participation in the Erasmus programme contributes significantly to the internationalisation not only of the University of Kassel but also of the city and region of Kassel. Students of the University of Kassel who participated in the programme successfully developed their skills themselves on an international, intercultural and linguistic level. This has helped them to grow personally and professionally, which clearly increased their value on the labour market. Students who came to Kassel in the framework of the programme have contributed to the intercultural study and work environment at the university by the presence on campus and their participation in seminars and lectures. This allows non-mobile students to also acquire intercultural competencies (internationalisation at home). The action Staff Mobility for Training, which is becoming increasingly popular, proves itself to be an ideal instrument in promoting the internationalisation of the university administration. Through the participation in language courses, Staff Training Weeks and workshops the university staff of the University of Kassel have been able to further develop their competencies on an international level. Completing internships in the framework of the action Student Mobility for Traineeships (SMP) allows students to gain important work experience while still studying. This significantly raises their value on the labour market. The poll rating regarding the satisfaction of the participants shows that there is a very high rate of satisfaction with the programme among the participants, which goes for all 4 actions.
