The essence of the mission of the University of Applied Sciences in Walcz since its creation in July 2004, is the acquisition and transfer of knowledge for creating entrepreneurship and culture. The duty of the University is building an area of interest in the transfer and application of knowledge and generating pulses to stimulate the development of culture and sports. The accession of the University of Applied Sciences in Walcz to ERASMUS + Programme was a natural consequence, as well as the explication of the Development Strategy of the University.
University of Applied Sciences in Walcz for many years conducted intensive efforts to open up and establish many interesting contacts abroad, which resulted in the signing of bilateral agreements with universities in, among others, Slovakia, Romania, Turkey, Bulgaria, Spain, France, Portugal, Germany, Hungary, Czech Republic and the UK.
One of the primary goals is to improve the mobility of our students and teaching staff across Europe, both qualitatively and quantitatively.
The main objectives of the participation in the programme are:
- improving the quality and applicability of education by advancement of the competence of the academic staff by improving any kind of mobility for teachers and staff to be able to distribute and gain experience and knowledge;
- quantitative and qualitative improvement of the mobility of students by partial studies abroad or combined degrees, and accepting foreign students for the construction of openness, convergence of standards and diversity of education;
- strict adherence to anti-discrimination policy and its consistent development;
- acquiring new partners for increased cooperation;
- animation and engaging non-academic partners to the mobility of student placements, the development of training programs, the dissemination of knowledge and experience to improve the relevance of education in a dynamic labour market and technological development;
- the consistent implementation of our language policy, both in order to promote Polish culture and the integration of newcomers with local community and for the internationalization of education in PWSZ in Walcz;
- increasing importance of mobility by recognizing and publicize the achievements of the participants;
- using the achievements of participants for the further promotion and increased mobility
Under the agreement 2014-1-PL01_KA103-000008 there were 29 participants of the mobility:
- 17 students who realized SMP trips for their traineeships, from such fields of education as Pedagogy (2), Management and Production Engineering (5), Physical Education (5), English Philology (3), Finance & Accounting (1), Administration (1);
- And 12 staff of the University, who have completed training trips to both universities and foreign companies from programme countries, including administrative staff (5) and teaching staff (7).
Measures implemented under the Erasmus + coverage included mainly implementation of the mobility of students and university staff traveling abroad, but also the visits of foreign students and university staff.
There were 14 visitors/ participants in total in the academic year 2014/15 , including 3 university staff mobility (STT), and 11 students from partner universities, both in terms of SMP (3) and SMS (8).
With 34 mobility planned in the Grant Agreement EP 2014, total of 29 completed mobility, including:
- Student mobility, in a total of 17 SMP mobility, including trips to Denmark (4), Italy (5), Norway (2), Ireland (1), the UK (2) and Germany (2);
- Trips of staff in a total of 11 mobility of STT, including trips to Spain (1), Slovakia (4), Germany (4) Romania (2) and Czech Republic (1).
On the basis of online surveys, international exchange of students brought these results:
- the acquisition of skills of logical thinking, drawing conclusions, planning projects, cooperation in the intercultural group.
- the acquisition of social skills, such as self-confidence, better adapt to new situations, curiosity and openness, involvement in social life and political interest in European affairs,
- acquisition of knowledge of other cultures and ways of coping with difficulties arising from cultural or religious differences.
For PWSZ in Walcz staff, realized mobilities have led to:
- personal and professional development of participants through the knowledge of good practices, acquiring skills and organizational competencies, establish professional contacts, increasing language, social and cultural competence;
- strengthen cooperation with partner institutions through the sharing of knowledge and experiences,
In relation to the entire university as an institution, realized mobilities have led to:
- improving the quality of student and staff mobility,
- the internationalization of the University.
