Higher education student and staff mobility project
Date du début: 1 juin 2014, Date de fin: 31 mai 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

In 2014/15 two staff (STA, STT) and 2 student SMS mobilities were planned based on the results of preliminary call (before applying to NA) and number of places at the partner HEI. Staff mobility plans were based on the VIST’s needs and employees’ interest. Inter-institutional agreements were signed before the mobilities. Erasmus+ as well as previous experiences with it were presented to students at several meetings. After receiving the confirmation of mobility by NA, call for application for mobility was published for students and they were chosen according to the predetermined criteria. For them meetings were organized and students given all the important information on mobility, study programs at host and the recognition of learning outcomes were discussed. School staff was notified about Erasmus+ options via e-mail and on meetings. They were chosen for mobility due to the predetermined criteria. One student mobility with the University of the Arts (UK) was carried out. 2nd mobility was cancelled by the chosen student due to the amended personal situation. As this was at the beginning of 2nd semester, it was late for other students from reserve list to organise mobility, consequently there was no real interest for the mobility among them. All of the planned staff mobilities were carried out, with a transfer of a STA mobility to the STT mobility (authorized transfer of funds). One STT was to the University of the Arts (UK), the other to the University of Surrey (UK). 25% of organisational support was transferred to STT mobility. VIST provided additional 28% of the funding for staff mobility. As students have to pay tuition for the study at VIST (it is not covered by the state like most of the other study programmes), the majority of the students work during the study to be able to afford it. Consequently they find it difficult to afford to go on mobility. There is also great proportion of part-time students who have families, jobs, and they are not interested in student exchanges. Due to those facts, we observe relatively low interest for student exchanges and many cancellations. In the future, we will further try to enhance interest by several presentations of positive student experiences. Due to our specifics, we shall also increase staff exchanges as majority of the students can benefit from visiting lecturers and knowledge that staff gains on mobility. Support and monitoring of the students before, during and after mobility Before the mobility: VIST assisted students in choosing the courses on the host institution, with preparation of the study agreements and all the necessary documents with the host, presentation of the OLS support option, organised, aligned and confirmed the training program in HEI host, choice of the courses at host; determined ECTS, which can be recognized due to the comparison of curricula of programmes, VIST prepared the study agreement and the grant agreement, gave assistance on the technical issues of the mobility. OLS licenses were not used due to their introduction after the start of the mobility. During the mobility we provided assistance in case of any problems on the host, followed the student progress throughout mobility. After the mobility: a review of record of learning and achievements at mobility, recognition of ECTS, dissemination of the experiences related to the mobility, assistance with report preparation, help with reintegration into work at the school... Support and monitoring of the staff before and after mobility Before the mobility: support for the organization with the host, help with the technical issues of the mobility, help with the coordination of the training program, preparation of the grant agreement… After the mobility: an overview of the mobility achievements, assistance in the dissemination of the experience gained in the mobility, assistance in the preparation of documents, reports and evidences. Impact on the institution Activities in Erasmus+ helped us to establish and strengthen international partnerships, to improve the quality and development of our study programs and research. It enabled us to plan joint projects, exchange of the good practices with foreign HEI. Exchange of the experience and knowledge of staff will indirectly enable greater comparability of skills that students have acquired while studying in various EU HEIs and improved employment in whole EU. Effects of the mobility on the individuals Mobile staff was able to improve teaching skills, transfer of knowledge to the host organization and vice versa, expand the network of contacts, made new arrangements for exchanges and projects. They also got better insight into the related foreign educational programs. Mobile student gained new life experiences, got acquainted with the education system abroad, acquired new knowledge, established international friendships and contacts, got more confident in the professional field and broadened international employment opportunities.
