Date du début: 1 juin 2014, Date de fin: 30 sept. 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Joining the Erasmus+ programme was an important strategic decision of Semmelweis University. We strive to build long term relationships with leading healthcare and scientific institutions in and outside of Europe. Our university’s international relations are in line with our commitment to education, research and health care. Apart from partnerships within the framework of Erasmus+, we have other relations based on bilateral agreements where collaboration is extended beyond faculty- and student exchange to joint research and other types of scientific cooperation. Currently Semmelweis University has mobility agreements with the faculties of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and health sciences of 135 universities. Semmelweis University considers it essential that healthcare professionals of the future have the opportunity to understand international scientific work, its results and methods and join international scientific workgroups during their studies. Four faculties of Semmelweis University run English and German language programmes parallel with the Hungarian ones. Accepting the students’ exams and courses taken at the host institution while participating in the mobility programme is coordinated by the respective faculty’s Office of the Dean. This procedure is based on the comparison of the two institutions’ curricula. Both study and traineeship programmes are very popular with students, which results in an increasing number of applications from Semmewleis University. The Faculty of Pharmacy, the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Faculty of Health and Public Services benefited the most from the introduction of graduate traineeship programmes, because difficulties arose regarding study mobilities resulting from the incompatibility of the different curricula. In case of incoming students linguistic and academic competences are tested before the application is accepted or the learning agreement is signed. Testing is done by the Dean’s Office or at the departments and institutes. The course catalogue is available on Semmelweis University’s website and it helps students select courses and design study programmes. We strive to make as much information available as possible both in Hungarian and English on the websites of Semmelweis University and the Erasmus Office. The latest information can be accessed on the following site: http://semmelweis.hu/erasmus/. The number of applicants for faculty and student mobility keeps growing year by year due to the expansion of the university’s international relations. During the mobilities faculty members receive invaluable feedback, experience various academic environments and have the opportunity to improve their language skills by using English as the main language of communication. The commitment of the foreign institutions towards the quality of education is another aspect that participants can benefit from; host institutions have an open-minded but at the same time ambitious approach towards scientific matters, education and fellow professors and researchers.
