Higher education student and staff mobility project

DOBA Faculty is holder of the ECHE Charter and it therefore implements Erasmus mobility projects in accordance with the general objectives of the Erasmus+ programme. The programme inter alia contributes to achieving the objectives of the Europe 2020 strategy, the objectives of the strategic framework for European cooperation in education and training (ET 2020), to the sustainable development of partner countries in the field of higher education and to the promotion of European values in accordance with the Treaty on European Union. Students and staff mobility is an opportunity for students, interns, youth and volunteers as well as for professors, teachers, coaches and staff of educational institutions to gain experience in another country. We received funds for 4 mobilities for the 2014/2015 academic year: - 1 mobility for studying abroad, - 1 mobility for traineeship abroad, - 1 mobility for teaching abroad, - 1 mobility for training abroad. All four motilities were realised, even though some funds had to be transferred from one category to another. Three men and one woman engaged in mobility, of those two higher education teachers. Student mobility lasted an average of three months and teacher mobility five days. Student mobility for traineeship is recognised within the framework of the institution’s programme and in accordance with the defined credits for an individual programme. Teacher mobility is recognised at annual interviews, evaluation of teachers’ work and remuneration. Due to limitations in the implementation of Erasmus staff mobility (duration, destination), we also support staff mobility and study visits of employees with own funds. To offer international experience also to employed students who are unable to engage in physical mobility due to financial, social or work-related reasons, we are developing virtual mobility programmes for students. The virtual mobility programme was related to the Virtual Summer School. We offered the Creative Cross Cultural Communication international week, which included 135 students from 27 countries in the 2014/2015 academic year. All planned activities of the project ran as planned and in accordance with quality indicators as established by the ECHE Charter. Mobility is implemented on the basis of learning agreements or other written agreements that DOBA Faculty concludes with other institutions. International cooperation and collaboration is one of the key priorities of DOBA Faculty that the school develops and strengthens on the basis of specified priorities. Erasmus coordinator is responsible for the implementation of all activities within the framework of mobility (national and international). The tasks of the Erasmus coordinator comprise the preparation of the call for applications for mobility, implementation of introductory days, contacting students, preparing agreements, help with student accommodation, monitoring students, reviewing student reports, etc. Teachers are encouraged to partake in mobility at different events that they attend (the Academic Assembly, training courses, meetings, etc.). Teachers apply to an internal mobility call for applications and the most appropriate candidate is chosen by the Erasmus coordinator. We are pleased with the results that all students and teachers were satisfied with their mobility experience. Satisfaction is regularly monitored and all mobility participants have to prepare a final report, while the students also write blogs that are published on our website. The results of the project show that the Erasmus experience was very positive for all participants, especially for students who showed progress in terms of independence, teamwork, understanding intercultural differences, etc. The number of annually granted mobilities is very low (app. 4 mobilities per year), however the positive effects are nevertheless seen in our institution and our attitude towards mobility and internationalisation within our institution is changing. The positive experience of all mobility participants means that there is a growing demand for mobility and the related possibilities. The students returning from mobility are a kind of Erasmus ambassadors, who are available for assistance and advice to all future generations and interested students. They also transfer their positive experience to their study peers. As regards teacher mobility, we have observed greater possibilities of applying for joint projects. A good practice example is the mobility of a teacher in the Republic of Macedonia that resulted in the application for a joint international project, which started in September 2015. We have very good experience with individual partners and are in agreements fo joint applications for international projects (Erasmus+ scheme and other). We are also in agreements with several institutions on the implementation of virtual mobility.
