Higher education student and staff mobility project
Date du début: 1 juin 2014, Date de fin: 31 mai 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

According to its internationalisation strategy, Aarhus University is committed to internationalising its study programmes and to encouraging more AU students to go abroad. The Erasmus+ programme and the availability of mobility grants are some of the most important means to achieve these goals. International students on campus stimulate internationalisation-at-home, and they are a prerequisite for obtaining a true international and multi-cultural learning environment. On the 2013-14 top 500 of higher educational institutions receiving Erasmus students, Aarhus University ranks as number 29 with a total of 797 incoming Erasmus students. Requirements by the Danish government to balance inbound and outbound mobility flows have led to a decrease but the current number of inbound Erasmus+ students (608) still places Aarhus University in the top 60 of receiving Erasmus institutions. The university supplies more than 60 degree programmes taught in English and offers a total of 1,000 annual English-taught courses on master and bachelor level. Courses are displayed in an online course catalogue. It is a strategic goal to increase the number of English-taught courses and degree programmes by 2020 to continue to be an attractive destination for international students. The report indicates that 96% of the inbound students were satisfied with their moblity experience at Aarhus University. Aarhus University encourages its students to go abroad through websites, campaigns and events and explicitly recognises that going abroad provides important international and intercultural competences preparing students for a global labour market. To provide the best possible framework for the students to go abroad, the leadership at Aarhus University recommends that all study programmes contain a mobility window with a curriculum that allows students to study abroad. Many study programmes provide the opportunity for students to undertake internships abroad, and the request for funding for internships continue to grow. The 2014 Erasmus+ number of outbound students (535) constitutes 40% of the total number of outgoing exchange students in the 2014-15 academic year. The university requires that all outbound students obtain a pre-approval of their courses abroad prior to their departure, and students are guaranteed recognition upon completion of the pre-approved courses. More than 90% of the outbound students are satisfied with their mobility experience. As mentioned above, Aarhus University has set an ambitious goal to increase the number of English-taught degree programmes. Through Erasmus mobility grants, professors will gain international and intercultural teaching experiences that will prove to be very useful when teaching in English in a multi-cultural classroom at Aarhus University. It is a goal of the official staff policy that all staff members continue to develop their competencies. 100% of the mobile staff participants were satisfied with their mobility experience.
