Higher education student and staff mobility project
Date du début: 1 juin 2014, Date de fin: 30 sept. 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Erasmus mobility for students and staff is one of the core activities in KU Leuven's internationalization policy. All faculties and all layers of the students (Ba/Ma/PhD) and staff (both junior and senior) participate. The university's objectives are not only to provide an added value to the academic experience of the participants, but also to strengthen international cooperation at the institutional level. Individual mobility forms a coherent part of our wider strategy of cooperation, and often leads to or strengthens cooperation in the field of research and innovation, or international curriculum development, or strategic projects with international partners within Erasmus+ and Horizon 20/20. Furthermore, the university's objectives are in complete synergy with the objectives of the European Commission, as described in the 2015 programme guide with special attention being given to innovation of education and research, increasing the employability of our students through work experience and a diversified international experience in a new learning environment and a continuing dialogue between individual mobility and strategic projects. The number of participants is stable and steadily increasing from year to year. While striving to promote the programme and encouraging participation from the entire university community, quality remains the main concern in implementing the programme's activities. During 2014-2015, the first year of Erasmus+, this has manifested in several ways : an evaluation of the existing partnerships by the various faculties, an increase in information sessions for both staff and students (both on the central and the faculty level), analysis and improvement of the central mobility website of KU Leuven. While efforts are continually being made to enhance the mobility experience of individual participants (not only by streamlining our administrative processes, information sessions and improved websites, but also by Erasmus+ projects with a focus on enhancing available intercultural education resources for Erasmus students and their teachers and free language support) this project also serves the institution as a whole. As already mentioned, it strengthens existing cooperation and often leads to new cooperation initiatives. It also enhances the international dimension of the university and leads to innovations in our teaching and training practices. As described in the university's EPS, guidance and support of participants is provided before, during and after the mobility experience, with central and faculty level working together to - help students and staff make an informed choice by providing clear information about partners, academic aspects of the mobility and the application process through websites, information session and individual support - provide participants with guidance for learning agreements, credit transfer, recognition process - at the end of the mobility, give former participants opportunities join various activities for welcoming international students and staff and to participate in information sessions and share their experience with the wider university community. This mobility project has also proven an excellent base from which to develop KU Leuven's exchanges with partner countries. Existing cooperation practices are used to develop new cooperation with partner countries and have led to a successful application for 2015-2016.
