The project Erasmus+ is of high importance for the College of Business and Hotel Management (CBHM) as it follows directly its strategic goals; those are targeted at practice-oriented education as well as professional qualifications considering future employability of every single student. Fields of study cover and are aimed at the hotel industry, gastronomy and tourism where international experience is classified as one of the fundamental cornerstones. Therefore, we are trying hard to spread, support and promote the Erasmus+ within the College of Business and Hotel Management. Referring to the fact that the CBHM is a comparatively small organization as to the number of students as well as its employees, an individual-approach is preferably applied while dealing with their requirements and needs. This strategy is also broadly supported by the centralized college management, and high flexibility is evident while applying changes of any type.
The project participants originate from the CBHM students and employees who meet the qualification requirements and pass the selection procedure. Altogether 6 mobilities were arranged in the academic year 2014/2015 (4 student, 1 extension and 4 staff mobilities), i.e., we exceeded our plan by 2 mobilities due to the increased participants´ interest. This success resulted from the promotion campaign focused on providing students and staff with information about the Erasmus+ program itself, its scope and benefits for the future study as well as professional career. In addition, new rules covering both support and provision of these activities had been introduced (mobility recognition as a part of staff entire evaluation, financial support from the CBHM means for zero-grant students, accommodation arrangement for incoming participants, etc.). The academic year 2014/2015 was the first year in the entire the CMBH history when the college could welcome the first mobility participants from abroad; because of having no previous experience, a few troubles occurred. However, due to the individual approach to participants and willingness of the management flexibility to apply changes, problems could be solved easily and we could learn from them in the future. The positive feedback from participants could also prove that we had gone about the mobility arrangement process correctly.
The project impact is assessed as highly positive: students were able to get valuable experience; they could improve their foreign language knowledge and competence, they were offered chances to meet new cultures and extend their multicultural views of surrounding multinational society. Every student succeeded in meeting and completing the mobility requirements. They appreciated the mobility activity and this fact was highlighted in their final reports. Every staff member succeeded in meeting and completing the mobility requirements as well. Within the mobility programs they could establish closer collaboration with host institutions; resulting from experience collected, they were able to implement and introduce new knowledge both in the CBHM operation and teaching/learning process. In the course of the project accomplishment, the CBHM could acquire priceless experience, particularly in the incoming foreign participants´ procedure; it was able to take efficient measures resulting in successful project implementation.
In terms of long perspective, the project could contribute to broader study internationalization at the CMBH, find new partners abroad as well as strengthen relationships with current ones. The project results fully comply with the CMBH strategy; therefore we would like to extend the experience gathered and continue accomplishing further Erasmus+ projects in the following years.
