Project aims: The Erasmus+ programme guide defines mobility of learners and staff as opportunities to undertake a learning and/or professional experience in another country by students, trainees, young people and volunteers, as well as professors, teachers, trainers, youth workers, staff of education institutions and civil society organizations. This objective is compatible with AMU’s vision adopted for 2009-2019 – the University undertakes global challenges, great projects and joint initiatives with the largest academic centres in the world and it is the University’s aspiration to be particularly open to all innovations in science and research, teaching and organization. It follows from the mission and internationalization vision that AMU’s intention is to conclude significant agreements, contracts, establish cooperation between staff/students and academic communities all over the world in the context of grant sponsored visits, exchange of researchers and projects on socio-economic development. AMU is ready to take on the challenge of expanding mobility with partner states under Erasmus+ programme. Presently, it has 753 agreements with 193 foreign partners. It offers nearly 300 modules in congress languages (Rector’s report on AMU activity in 2013).
Within the project there were 986 participants, including 804 students and 182 Academic staff. Students of BA, MA and PhD level were participating in both studies and internships, while academic staff were involved in STT and STA mobility.
Description of actions: There are pre-mobility actions such as working meetings, decisions on milestones, decisions about allocation of funds to finance actions and mobility actions, e.g. Orientation Week for incoming students, provision of high quality educational services, actions aimed at the integration of students with the academic and local communities through, e.g. faculty coordinators and administrators of Erasmus+ programme, cooperation with the Poznań City Office, ESN, and preparation and issue of documents confirming completion of mobility programmes.
Mobility participants are selected in accordance with the “Student recruitment for Erasmus+ programme” and “Staff mobility recruitment principles”, two documents available on AMU’s website. At the Faculty level recruitment is coordinated by Faculty Recruitment Committees appointed by the Faculty Dean. Detailed recruitment criteria are developed at each faculty by faculty committees, which corresponds to the specific character of mobility pursued by a given unit.
Deliverables and impact: Mobility of bachelor and master level students will be conducive to their improvement of skills, knowledge and competences. Experiences acquired during mobility should translate into a better position on the local, regional and national labour markets. Research at a foreign centre should bear fruit in the form of innovative proposals of diploma theses (students) and proposals for grants (staff). Mobility of students, staff and academic teachers will significantly help to enrich their soft skills.
Long term benefits: AMU staff mobility – more effective search for joint grant sponsored research areas and partners; finding more options for publication in scientific journals published by partner universities; exchange of experiences and innovative teaching methods; exchange of experience and best practices in teaching process organization for students of Erasmus+ programme. Student mobility – strengthening of soft competences helping to more easily function on the labour market and in contacts with prospective employers; improved language skills; promotion of the mobility idea.
