Faculty of technologies and systems (FTS) constantly aims for improvement in the educational process and internationalization of higher education. Besides this we strive for strengthening and extension of our scientific-research activities in local and international environment.
FTS mobility project within the Erasmus+ program was funded for implementation of two (2) mobilities of staff between the program countries: one (1) staff mobility for teaching – STA and one (1) staff mobility for training - STT, as well as one (1) student mobility for studies - SMS between the program countries, which was actually implemented as student mobility for traineeships - SMP.
Our faculty has additionally enhanced previous cooperation with the foreign academic partners by signing the inter-institutional agreement with:
- University of Trieste, Italy (https://www.units.it/);
- Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, Macedonia (http://www.ukim.edu.mk/index.php);
- Technical College in Bjelovar, Croatia (http://vtsbj.hr/).
The (outbound) staff mobilities and the (outbound) student mobility were held at the following institutions/organizations:
- staff mobility for teaching – STA at the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje (Macedonia);
- staff mobility for training – STT at the SimTec Software and Services SA organization in Thessaloniki (Greece);
- student mobility for traineeships – SMP at the Technical College in Bjelovar (Croatia).
Since we are among small faculties, we are trying to take advantage of each opportunity that we get in relation to cooperation with foreign partners, directing it towards objectives of our and partner institutions for mutual benefits.
In continuation, we introduce the most important impact and results attained within the project:
1. Upgrading of skills for the application of CAE computational tool - ANSYS, which is utilized at our faculty for educational and research purposes, with the emphasis on the high performance computing (HPC) for fluid dynamics (CFD) and fluid-solid interaction (FSI) simulations.
2. Collaboration with the foreign partner institutions in terms of mutual (co)mentorships at bachelor, master, and PhD level, whereas the content of the final works will serve as suitable background for development of scientific-research and/or applied projects.
3. Preparation of proposal for accreditation of the doctoral study program - 3rd degree at the Faculty of technologies and systems, which was sent for evaluation and validation to the Slovenian Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (eng. SQAA, slo. Nacionalna agencija Republike Slovenije za kakovost v visokem šolstvu - NAKVIS). Impact of the mobility project within this proposal can be recognized through the active participation of the higher-education teachers from the Technical College in Bjelovar and from the University of Trieste in implementation of particular subjects within the curriculum.
4. Opportunity for the application of projects for interregional cooperation across Europe within the framework of INTERREG IVC program (Research and innovation, Environment and resource efficiency or Low-carbon economy segments) in collaboration with partners from the local environment, partners from Croatia and Italy.
By considering the principles of the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) and the Erasmus Policy Statement (EPS), the mobility project significantly contributed to realization of the following objectives: professional and personal development of staff (consequently we may also expect professional and personal development of students), establishment of intensive collaboration with foreign institutions/organizations, active involvement of the foreign teachers in the educational process, internationalization of the higher education and planning of collaborative international projects.
International activity of our faculty is still at the beginning. Therefore, we are aware that the mobility projects can serve us as a very important tool for gradual establishment and recognition abroad.
