TERMINÉ
Geographically situated in the center of the European Union, the University of Udine is a point of reference in a region which is historically a meeting place and crossroads of different worlds and cultures. Since its establishment in 1978 as multidisciplinary university, we have pursued the policy of internationalization, aimed at preparing “international” students and forging relations and partnerships with universities and institutions in Europe and the rest of the world. Central to the achievement of our vision of an international university are the benefits derived from working collaboratively. Our international partnerships facilitate and support staff and student mobility, student recruitment, developments in teaching and learning, collaborative research and capacity-building. In 2015, a detailed strategic plan focused on internationalization has been adopted with allocation of resources.
The University promote international mobility since the first recruiting steps (during Open Days, Fairs, Meetings) and takes advantage of its research and migrants networks all over the world.
International mobility is an added value for students and the University demonstrate its strong institutional commitment creating equal opportunities for students.
This goal is achieved offering additional financial resources and assistance to disadvantaged students thanks to grants offered by Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and private funds.
As far as the outgoing and incoming mobility strategy is concerning we have adopted a strong strategy of implementation results in terms of quality and quantity of mobility flows. The Guidelines for Erasmus Mobility (extended for all mobility flows) has been adopted focusing the attention to the relevance of recognition of mobility credits, clearness of procedures and finally special attention is put in the choice of partners.
A process of agreements reviewing have been started and it is still active with the aim to select those ones are the best for the students. A strong work has been done to make clear the vote transfer acquired by the Erasmus student. We have produced for all the bachelor and master courses a ECTS Grading Table set up to the real percentage vote distribution following the European Commission Guide.
To enhance mobility flows more opportunities have been created for students. Great attention to traineeships in enterprises in Europe and in Extra Eu Countries, new calls for research for thesis mobility worldwide, fundraising to increase mobility available budget central in this years of economic crisis and finally a creation of a career office.
Coherently to the strategy focused on quality the best students are selected for mobility and attention is put on learning agreements and transcript of work outputs.
Even though internationalization and mobility policies are important in the institutional agenda the deep review of all the internationalization process started on 2013 will give its results in a medium long period.
The results and impacts attained are the establishment of a real international University with more courses or modules offered in English, more international double degree courses, more mobility, more traineeships and international experiences without overlook our specific identity
