Higher education student and staff mobility project
Date du début: 1 juin 2014, Date de fin: 31 mai 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Pigier technical school is a private institute with a state association agreement. It is specialized in the tertiary : office work, commerce, negociation and finance. Work experience is compulsory in the curriculum, specially for the office work students and since 2009 we have been involved in Erasmus project in writing the chart, and then asking for students mobilities. So far 13 students were granted Erasmus funding for their work experience (in the meantime 15 were granted Conseil Régional funding). In 2014 we signed the new Erasmus+ chart and we were able to ask for teachers mobilities. So far 3 teachers went abroad. The objectives for students are to comply with their curriculum (work experience abroad), develop language and soft skills. For teachers, one of them (English teacher) did some jobshadowing in a university in England to compare and exchange about teaching practices. The 2 others (marketing teachers) did a work experience in a shop in order to know more about selling technics and procedures in UK, so that they can transmit their new knowledge and experience to their students in France. For this project 2014-2016, we received only a single grant. A second year student (management assistant) left for 2 months to England (London) and did his internship in the administrative department of a language school : file follow-up, registrations, classifying... He clearly improved his level of English and obtained 18 out of 20 in the English test for the BTS. For the teachers, the English teacher did a 3 week jobshadowing workplacement in a university and a language center in Cheltenham (professional English course for adults and teenagers). She had the opportunity to participate to a fair for local entrepreneurs and was able to exchange with them on the necessary skills to get into the working world. She discussed a lot with the teachers about educational resources and class management and today she is using most of these resources in her classes. She is still in contact with her colleagues there and they would like to develop a partnership. For the teachers who did their internship in stores, they had the opportunity to develop their language skills and participate in the sale and management process. Since then they participate to the English oral assessment session, which create additional motivation on behalf of the students. They joined the students for the TOEIC lessons. What's more their testimonies during the teachers'meetings of last July had a real impact on the teaching community. Several teachers are now willing to do an internship with the Erasmus+ program. We are still hoping to develop a long term partnership with institutions or companies to sustain these exchanges.
