Higher education student and staff mobility project
Date du début: 1 juin 2014, Date de fin: 30 sept. 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The Mobility Project of the University of Mons (UMONS) in 2014-2015 has been realized in a very satisfactory way, in a national context of revision of the architecture of higher education in the Federation Wallonia-Brussels (new applicable rules in the framework of the "Paysage Decree"). It was also the first year of implementation of the new 2014-2021 Erasmus+ Charter. Besides, UMONS also gathered in numerous new partnerships outside the borders of Europe, thanks to dynamic missions realized towards these destinations during the last four years. In this general context of partnerships revision and creation, UMONS globally succeeded in maintaining a significant increase of its outgoing and incoming mobilities - both at the student and staff levels - as compared to the initial flows mentionned in 2013 in our candidature for the Erasmus+ Charter. The growth in the number of mobilities obviously results from the achievement of the strategic goals of the UMONS international policy. However, we register a light decrease in the number of outgoing student mobilities for traineeships towards the european partners in 2014-2015, and a growth of this type of mobility towards non european partners. We consider that this phenomenon is temporary and that it is due to an increasing attractiveness towards the new partnerships gathered worldwide as well as to the European partnerships revision requested in the framework of the ERASMUS+ brandnew programme. Measures of intensive internal promotion towards European partnerships are already taken to improve the situation. As regards the incoming mobility, we register a constant growth in the number of flows, especially in the students and staff members coming from our partnerships outside of Europe. Finally, we notice a clear increase of the Staff mobilities (Teaching STA and follow-up/exploratory mobilities) - resulting from our drive of promotion and valorization of these activities. The objective of internationalization of the UMONS has also been translated by the organization and the promotion of specialized sectors bound to our strong axes of research activities, the participation to European cooperation projects as well as to development cooperation activities, and by opening the access to our international activities to the largest number of people, whatever is the socioeconomic profile of the participant. The participation of UMONS to international fairs (EAIE, NAFSA, APAIE, BMI, ...) and to strategic missions towards U.E. and Non U.E. countries have been a good opportunity to diversify the partnerships and adapt them to our international policy profile. UMONS has also been attentive to the development of new partnerships allowing the organization of more programmes of " double diplomas " and joint supervision doctorate thesis. In the scope of sustainability of the long-term impact of its international policy on the organization of its missions, UMONS pursues its efforts of improvement of the quality and permanent adaptation to the new measures regarding academic recognition (New ECTS guidelines 2015) and excellence of its scientific research activities and dissemination.
