Higher education student and staff mobility project
Date du début: 1 juin 2014, Date de fin: 30 sept. 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The University of Lleida, whose origins as a higher education institution date back to the year 1300 under the name of Estudi General de Lleida, has been participating in the Erasmus programme since it was renamed and refounded in 1991. Up to that moment, its faculties and schools had also taken part in the Erasmus mobility scheme through the universities in Barcelona which they used to belong to. The University has joined, from the very beginning they were launched, the new actions that the programme has developed, as it was the case with traineeships and training mobilities some years ago, and it is now with associated countries. The main aim pursued by the University of Lleida through its participation in the Erasmus programme is the internationalisation of its university community, directly by means of student and staff outgoing mobility as well as indirectly by means of internationalisation-at-home actions. Within this context, the Internationalisation Operational Plan of the University of Lleida (2012-2016) regards mobility of students, lecturers and administrative staff, both incoming and outgoing, as one of the three most important goals of internationalisation in university teaching. The Erasmus mobility project for academic year 2014-2015 comprises the participation of the University of Lleida in all mobility activities, that is to say, studies, traineeships, teaching and training. As a whole, 158 outgoing mobilities have been reported, which represents a compliance percentage of 96.20% in relation to the number of expected mobilities contained in the grant agreement with the Erasmus+ National Agency. Regarding the type of activities, 93 students took part in mobility for studies, 27 students in mobility for traineeships, 22 lecturers in mobility for teaching, and 10 staff members participated in mobility for training. In sum, 120 outgoing students and 32 outgoing staff members. With regard to incoming mobility, the University of Lleida has received 140 students and 8 staff members in the academic year 2014/2015, so it proves to be an attractive destination for many European students. The satisfaction degree of the participants is very high, both in student mobility (97.50% of satisfaction among outgoing students, 98.75% among incoming students) and in staff mobility (100% in outgoing staff, 85.71% in the case of incoming staff). With regard to the learning outcomes gained through their stay abroad, students highlight the building and improvement of their personal abilities: problem-solving skills, task organisation and planning aptitudes, independent learning, their ability to adapt to new situations, and a better knowledge of their strengths and weaknesses. Students also report some social competences acquired and improved during their Erasmus stay, such as the ability to cooperate in teams with people from other cultures. On the other hand, teaching and administrative staff have specially valued the reinforcement of their professional network and the building-up of new contacts, as well as the improvement of their social, linguistic, and cultural competences. Besides the impact on the participants, and in line with the goals of the Internationalisation Operational Plan of the University of Lleida, the participation in the Erasmus+ programme contributes to the internationalisation of the University as a whole, both through the acquisition of international experience on the part of its teaching and administrative staff, and through the internationalisation of its classrooms thanks to the presence of students and staff from other countries. Beyond the university, the presence of a high number of foreign students has an important social and economic impact on the city of Lleida. In the long run, the academic mobility of students and staff is one of the actions pursued by the University of Lleida so as to improve the level of internationalisation of the institution in the field of teaching, in order to train highly qualified professionals who are able to take up the challenges of a global world and to help generate a positive impact on the fabric of society and economy in their environment.
