Higher education student and staff mobility project
Date du début: 1 juin 2014, Date de fin: 30 sept. 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The University of Gda?sk successfully participated in all previous editions of mobility programmes (Tempus, Socrates, LLP Erasmus). Participating in Erasmus + Project is one of the main elements in the process of internationalization of our university. In the first year of ERASMUS+ project we cooperated with 260 institutions of higher education. On the basis of Inter-institutional Agreements during the academic year 2014/2015 we sent 213 students to the partner universities and at the same time received 149 foreign students. All of them had their studies recognized according to the requirements stated in the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE). Apart from participating in lectures, during their stay in Gda?sk the incoming students could also get familiar with Polish culture thanks to many events organised by Erasmus Exchange Office. They had also opportunity to join a free Polish course, which lasted accordingly one semester or the whole academic year. As well as this, the vast majority of them were guaranteed accommodation in the university?s dormitories, where they could live together with Polish students. Mobility for teachers (Staff Teaching Assignments) was very popular among the academics from all the departments. There were more teachers interested in taking part in the Programme then the places offered (co-financed by the programme). The outcome of this are international weeks organized at the faculties during which academic teachers from abroad can give lectures at our university. There were two persons from the administrative staff who took part in the Staff Mobility for Training (STT). This kind of mobility is popular among library and dean's office staff. There were 43 students who took part in the traineeship mobility. The increasing number of graduate students who want to take part in this kind of mobility is observed. The benefits from the participation in Erasmus+ concern both the University and individual participants. Our students with Erasmus experience in their Curriculum Vitae are better perceived in the labour market. Many of them apply successfully for the job in the international companies which are settled in the region. As Tricity (Gda?sk, Sopot, Gdynia) is the region with many big enterprises, it can also offer placements for foreign students. It happens that some of the mobility for studies participants prolong their stay in Gda?sk in order to realise here Erasmus+ traineeship mobility. The increasing number in different kinds of mobility (studies, traineeships, teaching assignment and staff training) has a considerable influence on the process of internationalisation of the University. All participants have a chance to compare the model of studying in several parts of Europe as well as to get accustomed to functioning in the society that is mentally and culturally different. It is especially important for Polish students who have been brought up in the monoculture society. According to the academic teachers, taking part in ERASMUS+ Programme is a benefit both for themselves and for the University itself as it allows to embed bilateral relations with foreign partners. These profits frequently go far beyond teaching experience and results in publications, the preparation of new teaching materials and joint courses or cooperation in different projects and educational initiatives. All the activities influence positively on the general assessment of the academic teacher and of the faculty.
