The PR-T3 project ( Promoter of Transnational Relations) has been proposed by six partner universities coordinated by the University of Padua together with the University Ca’ Foscari Venice, the Iuav University of Venice, the University of Trieste, the University of Pisa, the University of Catania embracing Italy as a whole. This project is at the same time a continuation and expansion of a positive experience of collaboration among four of these Universities and therefore it was decided to involve other universities.
PR-T3 addressed the needs of a global labour market without barriers, represented by transnational enterprises that requires graduates with international profiles.
Our project was aiming at training a professional profile in Promoter of Transnational Relations by offering to students and newly graduates to train in companies abroad, increasing in this way their future employability and their chances to find a job.
We are in fact aware that public and private companies in Europe and in Italy are looking for profiles that have a high level of specialization in their field, and are at the same time able to promote and manage international relationships with enterprises, institutions, local authorities and associations.
In this regard the skills and competencies that participants could develop during their training abroad and that are directly requested by global companies are not only the specific skills related to their studies, but also technical skills and knowledge related to the use of foreign languages, of ICT, of fund raising, of project management, and most important, soft skills related to the ability to build networks, to promote relations with new stakeholders, communication skills, negotiating and problem solving skills.
Each University with the coordination and supervision of the University of Padua, has organized and managed its own selection, managed relations with its partners, monitored traineeships and ensured full recognition of mobilities.
During the academic year 2014/15 the partnership organized 177 mobilities, fully funded with EU funds or with national funds.
More than 600 months were financed, with traineeships lasting from two to seven months and taking place in 20 different Programme countries and 169 hosting organization, such as international schools of languages, entrepreneurs associations, insurance companies, law firms, government agencies, consulting and finance companies, commercial offices of public and private institutions, companies export offices, chambers of commerce, associations, international foundations and organizations, research centers.
As regards participants, they came from different degree programs eg economics, political science, science, architecture, letters, law, languages, because of the versatility of the profile that we aimed to train, thus it was preferred not to preclude participation on the basis of the degree course, but to assess the relevance of each participant's training project.
As for the qualitative objectives, participants, after the mobility, acquired skills and competencies that had been foreseen in the learning agreements , and both graduates and students could benefit from an overall strengthening of employability and of their career prospects because of the improvement or acquisition of technical, soft and language skills, and through increased proactivity, sense of initiative and intercultural awareness.
