Higher education student and staff mobility project

During the academic year 2015 – 2016, KES College has organized in total twelve mobilities where five students and seven lecturers where sent abroad for practical exercise and training respectively. 1. One student of the “Culinary Arts, Bakery & Pastry” programme has completed her practice at Zanos Melathron Hotel in Santorini during April 2015 to June 2015. The student worked as an assistant cook with fixed timetable and has put through all the actions that had been taking place in hotel’s kitchen. 2. Other two student mobilities for training refer to students who were enrolled in the first year of the “Culinary Arts, Bakery & Pastry” programme. They did their practice at Atlantica Princess Hotel in Rhodes. They started their practical experience at the beginning of June 2015 and they completed it by the end of September 2015. The students worked in the kitchen of the hotel as assistant cook at fixed working hours. 3. The fourth and fifth student mobilities refer to two graduating students of the “Culinary Arts, Bakery & Pastry” programme who completed their practice at Hotel Villa Retiro in Spain. The duration of the training was 4 months. Regarding the staff mobilities for training that took place during the academic year 2014 -2015, lecturers from Beauty Therapy, Medical Representatives and Culinary Arts programmes, travel abroad in order to learn new techniques and improve their skills on the subjects that they teach at KES College. 1. One lecturer of the Medical Representatives Programme has been abroad for ten days during June 2015, at the National Heart and Lung Institute in London. She experienced activities related to transnational bed-to-bedside research performed by a multi-disciplenary team. 2. Two lecturers of the Beauty Therapy programme have done their training in Barcelona at the Germaine de Capuccini (Company specializing in Cosmetics), during May 2015. The training duration was 3 days. Through the mobility lecturers learn new techniques about massage, body and face treatments and body therapies, their uses and their effects physically and mentally. 3. During May 2015 two other lecturers of the Beauty Therapy programme traveled to England, at NWRC Company, familiarized with new techniques about Make-up, Nails, Massage methods, Body & Face Treatments and Body Therapies. 4. Gastronomy Essentials during 27/01/15 – 29/01/15 in Athens, accepted two lecturers of the Culinary Arts programme, where they learn new cooking techniques (Sous Vide), what it is used for, the benefits it has, if it is financial worth it, if it is healthier than other cooking methods and if we can involve in this technique. We have met our targets, completed our planned activities and fulfilled all our set objectives. During the projects we have been in continuous discussions with the employers and students involved, and we were having positive feedback in all areas concerned. We didn’t face any problems or difficulties during the projects.
