Higher education student and staff mobility project
Date du début: 1 juin 2014, Date de fin: 30 sept. 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The background of the Erasmus+ project by the University of Calabria is mainly based on the long and positive experience gained through the implementation of projects in previous EU programmes such as LdV, Socrates, Erasmus and LL for the mobility of students, recent graduates, teachers and staff in European Universities and Companies. In fact, the university has actively participated in both the pilot phases of the Erasmus programme in 1987, and in the later stages of the programme for which it has been awarded the Erasmus University charters (EUC) and recently, in 2014, the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) for the entire duration of the Erasmus+ programme. In the previous Community programs for education and training, the University, in addition to the Erasmus mobility of students (credit mobility), faculty and staff, has also managed two projects, one in the ambit of the LdV for placement of students and graduates and the other under the Lifelong Learning programme in order to offer its students also opportunities to do internships in companies and in other organisations in Europe. For the excellent performance of the past years, also based on the excellent results achieved in terms of mobility during the seven years’ period of the LL programme ended very recently, the University of Calabria decided to continue its experience in the ambit of Erasmus+ by presenting a project including all mobility activities implemented so far for students including traineeships, teachers and staff. The main objectives reached have been to a) improve the quality and increase the volume of cooperation in Europe among universities, other organizations and companies; b) better the linguistic, professional, social and intercultural skills of students also in order to facilitate a more qualified entry in the labor market; c) increase the offer of Erasmus mobility opportunities for University students, teachers and staff. The mobility numbers achieved and the months awarded, as shown by the data registered in MTool, have proved to be higher than the ones foreseen and financed in the grant agreement and the good results have exceeded our expectations. For what concerns undertaken activities, also with reference to the commitment assumed with the Erasmus Charter for HE, the University of Calabria has made great efforts in order to • select, according to academic merit criteria, its own students and recent graduates; • guarantee a high quality level in organising the mobility activities for students, teachers and staff; • guarantee quality traineeships through the search of opportunities that fitted beneficiaries’ needs; • support selected participants in the preparation of necessary documents for mobility and give appropriate guidance on the linguistic, cultural and social aspects of hosting countries; • inform participants about the opportunities to attend to freeonline language courses provided by the EC OLS system or to take advantage of a preparatory course held at the language center of the University; • monitor, through e-mailor other means, the proper development of the study or traineeship programme by the student and by the host University/enterprise; • awarded recognition to beneficiaries for the developed activities/learning outcomes according to the LA signed by the parts (student, home and host institution) before departure and to Final Certificates (Transcript of Record or Traineeship Certificate) issued to students by host organisation upon completion of mobility. Furthermore, in project implementation the University of Calabria has fully applied the Erasmus+ financial and management rules. In line with the institutional strategy, the Erasmus Policy Statement (EPS) of the University and the Education Modernization Agenda the Impact of the project was positive for all targets involved : • the University has enlarged its educational offer for study and training abroad, has provided opportunities for teacher and staff exchanges in Universities and companies, has strengthened its internationalisation policy by collaborating with different European partners also from the economic and business sectors and not only with Universities; • companies, in the case of traineeships, have both enjoyed the benefits arising from the comparison with the academic culture of trainees thus taking advantage of their work and strengthened their cooperation with the University of Calabria; • students and graduates have bettered their linguistic competence, cultural and professional experiences in order also to be more facilitated in entering the job market and some of them have found a job in companies.
