Copenhagen School of Design and Technology/Københavns Erhvervs Akademi (KEA) has had the pleasure of benefitting from the Erasmus+ (and LLP) program since we received our University Charter several years ago. We are always targeting to give an increased number of Students and Staff the opportunity of benefitting from the program and visit the great variety of educational and industrial partners we work with across Europe. Internationalization is a firmly integrated part of our organizational strategy and the Erasmus+ programme is a cornerstone in promoting internationalization and to embrace the international dimension at Copenhagen School of Design and Technology. Both students and staff who have returned from mobilities abroad have been very positive and excited about they stay abroad. Many students express that their mobility has been a true "life changer" and the staff who has been abroad has established important contacts to colleagues abroad.
During this grant period, we have been witnessing a great increase in students showing interest in benefitting from the possibility of doing their Internship/Traineeships abroad. Since Internships/Traineeships are a mandatory part of all our educational programmes at Copenhagen School of Design and Technology, we are very happy that our students are taking advantage of the Erasmus+ programme to explore what it is like to be employed in a company abroad and discover the different cultural working habits. Overall we have had the pleasure of giving grants to 48 students doing their Internship/Traineeship abroad. The students have had a background in more or less all educational programmes at KEA, but especially the students from our different Design programmes has been very proactive in taking advantage of the Erasmus+ program.
38 students have been benefitting from the Erasmus+ program in terms of Student Mobility for Studies. This is a minor decrease in number of students doing Erasmus+ Mobilities. More students are looking towards doing mobilities to our overseas partners. In the next grant period we will be looking more into promoting our current Erasmus+ partners as well as taking advantage of Erasmus+ “international dimension” and mobility in non-program countries. Still, the students have been more than gratful for the opportunity of doing a mobility with the support of an Erasmus+ grant. That is also one of the main reasons why we are using our former Erasmus+ students actively in promoting Erasmus+ and disseminating the Erasmus+ program.
Staff mobility using the support of Erasmus+ has also been a very positive experience in this grant period. During this grant period, we had the pleasure of letting 13 teachers and other administrative staff visit one of our Erasmus+ partners. However, we would wish that we had even more funds and not least more time to give more teachers and staff the opportunity of benefitting from doing either staff training or teaching.
Copenhagen School of Design and Technology is a highly internationalized learning institution.1/3 of all programs at KEA is taught in English and we have more than 2000 international students. That is also one of the main reasons why we prioritize to give as many staff (both teachers and administrative) the possibility of exploring other educational systems in an international setting and creating international network among our Erasmus+ partners. The positive feedback from teachers and administrative staff is a clear evidence of the importance of Staff mobility.
Both Student - and Staff Mobility shows the longterm positive impact the Erasmus+ Mobilitiy program has on Copenhagen School of Design and Technology. Students become selfconfident, independent and aware of intercultural differences and similarities between the program countries. They gain competences that they could have not obtained if they didn't paticipated in the Erasmus+ program and therefore become more attractive to their future employees.
