Date du début: 1 juin 2014, Date de fin: 30 sept. 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The internalization of UC3M is one of the basic pillars of its strategy and its future, forging an international vision for our teaching, research, and cultural and social activities. One of the main objectives of the Campus Carlos III Project presented for the Campus of International Excellence (ICE) is the internationalization of the University. UC3M has already made progress in achieving this goal through several different programs. 1- UC3M is one of the most active Spanish universities in relation to international research collaboration. It is the second Spanish university according to relative participation in the Fourth Framework Programme and approximately one third of its research income comes from European competitive funding. 2- Its international visibility has been enhanced through its incorporation in world class international organizations. Among these organizations are the European Association for International Education, the European Universities Association, CINDA (Inter-university Center for Development), among others. (Alliance 4 Universities) of four Spanish universities (Autónoma de Barcelona, Autónoma de Madrid, Carlos III de Madrid and Pompeu Fabra) was created. The Alliance has set up a permanent European office in Brussels, whose purpose is to bolster our international projection. The office offers support in establishing new research collaboration, as well as new alliances in the area of European education policy. 3- The Universidad continuously endeavors to foment internationalization in its instruction. In addition to its commitment to the European Higher Education Area, the number of our degrees programs offered in English has grown, there were 11 bilingual degrees, with 5 taught exclusively in English. Furthermore, new double degrees with international higher learning institutions were incorporated. Specifically, in the undergraduate degree programs there are double degrees agreements with American University, École National Supérieur d’Arts et Mètiers, Paris X. Along the same lines, for the graduate programs there are agreements with ESCP Europe, American University and several European universities within the EU Erasmus Mundus Program. 4- There are numerous exchange agreements with international universities for students, faculty and administrative staff. These Agreements allow UC3M to offer more than 1,800 international mobility places with approximately 30% of its graduates having engaged in an academic exchange with an international university. Regarding University faculty, the mobility stay within the Erasmus program, has increased 30% with respect to the previous year. Furthermore, a pioneer program for administrative staff was established. International strategy must be supported by adequate infrastructure and by administrative staff who facilitate the incorporation of international students and faculty. Study of different languages can be undertaken at the University Language Center, languages which include Spanish, English, Chinese, German, French and Japanese. We must strive to consolidate some aspects where there is still room for improvement. These aspects include the need to continue with the internationalization of our professionals (teaching, research and administrative staff), to continue to increase the number of international agreements, and to increase the presence of UC3M in networks and programs in institutions worldwide. Objectives: Foster the “UC3M” brand image as a prestigious name in teaching and research. Continue increasing the international mobility of students (undergraduate and graduate), faculty and administrative staff. Increase the number of double degrees with world class higher learning institutions and universities, and first rate research groups. Continue to expand the undergraduate and graduate programs taught in English. Imbue its students, professors and administrative staff with an international perspective, fomenting knowledge and use of English (UC3M bilingual campuses) as well as fomenting study in other languages. Strategies: Agreements and Alliances: Strengthen international mobility agreements and grant programs for international mobility: students, faculty and academic staff. Develop alliances with other centers of excellence for the creation of undergraduate and graduate double degrees. Increase UC3M presence in institutional networks and international scientific associations. Faculty: Bolster the international experience of faculty and incorporate this aspect into selection and promotion criteria. Students: Foment the development of international student associations. Progressively increase tuition for non EU students employing the additional resources in expanding grant programs. Academic Staff: Support study of English and other languages, improving professional training and development programs and incorporating this capacity into selection and promotion criteria.
