Higher education student and staff mobility project

EC Project Number 2014-1-ELO1-KA103-000039 was approved of in the frame of the European Project Erasmus+/KA1 2014/15. ASPETE?s aim in this Project was to promote student credit mobility for studies and traineeship and staff mobility for teaching and training from and to Programme Countries and to bring positive and long-lasting effects on both the participants and their Institutions, in compliance with the principles and objectives of the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education and own Erasmus Policy Statement. To this end, before the mobility ASPETE (i) respected in full the principles of non-discrimination by providing equal mobility opportunities to participants from all backgrounds, including disadvantaged groups (ii) ensured visibility of selection processes (iii) ensured full recognition for satisfactorily completed activities of student mobility, and their inclusion in student Diploma Supplement (iv) published the updated Course Catalogue on the Project?s website to allow well informed choices about courses to be included in student Learning Agreements (v) promoted mobility in the frame of valid Erasmus+ Inter-Institutional Agreements (vi) ensured that participants were well-informed about the mobility period in advance (requested docs, level of language proficiency/OLS, grant award, contract terms, etc) (vii) provided assistance related to obtaining visas and insurance, when required, as well as guidance in finding accommodation. During mobility, ASPETE (i) ensured equal academic treatment and services for home students and staff and inbound participants (eg. no tuition fees or any other fees; free access to laboratories, library and internet services; free textbooks through EUDOXUS platform; card for reduced fares; free meals in the School?s Restaurant) (ii) provided appropriate mentoring, confidential counseling and integration arrangements (erasmus coordinators, mentors, buddies) for all participants. After mobility, ASPETE (i) fully recognized all satisfactorily completed activities stated in outbound students? L.A.s (ii) provided all inbound students and their home Institutions with a ToR, containing a full, accurate and timely record of their achievements (iii) supported the reintegration of participants and gave them the opportunity to build on their experiences for the benefit of the Institution and their peers (eg disseminating good practices at departmental and institutional level, initiating or setting up cooperation in the frame of new projects, speaking about Erasmus experiences in Erasmus conferences, participating in our Greek/English electronic magazine ?Erasmus through our students? eyes??, etc). The total number and the type of participants and their mobility activities fully met the quantitative and qualitative objective of the Grant Agreement. Of the total 22 outbound participants, 8 were 1st cycle students and 16 were staff members. All of the 8 outbound students had applied for and were funded for student mobility for studies ? 5 of them for the winter semester and 3 of them for the spring semester 2014/15. All of these students completed the activities stated in their Learning Agreement satisfactorily and received full recognition of their achievements, apart from one student who interrupted his mobility in less than a month from its beginning, for serious personal and family reasons. Out of the 16 outbound staff members, 2 were from the administrative staff (mobility for training) from Services relevant to the Programme and 14 from the teaching staff (6 of them for the purpose of teaching and 8 for the purpose of training). Out of the 16 inbound participants, 9 were students for the purpose of studies and 7 teaching staff members for the purpose of teaching. The successful implementation of the Project led to the following positive outcomes and long-lasting effects: As regards students, improved learning performance and foreign language skills, increased self-empowerment, self-esteem, sense of initiative and motivation to pursue studies in next cycle of studies, and enhanced intercultural awareness. As regards staff, improved knowledge and competences related to their professional profiles, broader understanding of practices in education across Europe, enhanced intercultural awareness, participation in conferences and related organizational/scientific committees, joint papers, etc. As regards ASPETE, increased capacity to operate at EU level, improved management skills and internationalization strategies, strengthening of existing academic bonds and enhanced cooperation with partners, new cooperation agreements and networks (eg Slavik University of Technolgy, SK, Midlesex University, Lodon, UK, participation in other EU projects (eg the eQuATIC Project, an Online Quality Assessment Tool for International Cooperation, financed by the Flemish Government and Ghent University).
