Higher education student and staff mobility project

Context and history : IMF is a training institution for social workers. All the professional diplomas are realized in alternation, partnerships developed with establishments from the social and medical and social fields are a strong asset of our engineering which guarantees an important professional integration. The international cooperation is an integral part of the institute’s activities. Historically, this opening towards international is a founding main line. The need to take account of the multicultural dimension of social issues has guided us to open the social workers’ training to the different types of intervention into the European countries, the ones around the Mediterranean Sea and also, more recently, in Canada. Thus as soon as 2001, a European University degree in social sciences was created with 17 European universities. Since then, IMF has integrated European programs on mobility: Leonardo in 2003 and Erasmus in 2005. Goals : - To facilitate the mobility of our students preparing a level III diploma as well as the mobility of students coming from abroad ; particularly the outgoing mobility of students preparing the specialized educator diploma or the social assistant diploma for an educational period of 6 months or for an internship period of 3 months. - To facilitate the involvement of the educational and technical staff working on our two training sites in order to ensure the promotion of this political dimension by the largest number of people. - To compare field experiences within the framework of professional education in alternation. - To promote professional paths in alternation: promoting internships in two European countries (Belgium and Spain). - To ease self-fulfillment. - To improve employability. Number and type/participants’ profiles: - Students: first-degree course, adult education and apprenticeship: 4 - Teaching staff: 4 - Technical staff: 2 Description of the activities: - Students: realizing a two months long educational period and a 4 months long internship period. On one hand, the goals are the development of skills into community social intervention and the continuity in practice of individual assistance social intervention. On the other hand, they are the development of a professional network and partnerships in order to fight social exclusions. - Educational staff: providing teaching periods of 5 days, preparing the students’ mobility, ensuring the continuity of partnership by renewing agreements between institutions. - Technical staff: improving the quality of the mobility projects’ management and ensuring the durability of partnerships. Results and effects : - The linguistic skills and the professionalization level by exchanging experience and practices. is improved - The transfer of innovation regarding social intervention’s systems and regarding management procedures for a public who has specific needs (people with disabilities, childhood protection, ageing people,…) is improved. - The insertion rate of fresh graduates by the acquired experience abroad during their mobility period is improved.
