The Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music (FNAM) in Bydgoszcz aims at providing and maintaining the highest quality in artistic education as well as fostering individual artistic development. The aim is to be achieved through improving teaching standards as well as creating opportunities for both students and teachers to learn a variety of performance techniques. Learning to adopt techniques which are different to those used in everyday practice is an invaluable source of inspiration and motivation in the process of improving teaching and learning quality. The FNAM in the frame of the financial agreement of 2014/15 cooperated with numerous partner institutions of the Erasmus+ Programme. It resulted in mobilities of students and staff with the following partners: Conservatorio di Musica "Francesco Venezze" in Rovigo, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow, Conservatorio Superior De Musica Oscar Espla in Alicante, Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, Conservatorio di Musica "Luigi Cherubini" in Florence and the University of Toulouse Le Miral. In the frame of the STA mobilities three professors left: two went to Slovakia where they gave lectures and classes. The third professor went to Spain, where she successfully gave a piano recital and had master classes for students. All teachers? mobilities were highly appreciated and commented. There was also, the first for our academy, STT mobility. The Artistic Affairs Office worker went to Spain to observe the work of a similar office in Alicante and consulted good practice concerning the organization of artistic events. As the receiving institution, the FNAM in Bydgoszcz welcomed two professors: Jean-Michel Court from Toulouse who gave lectures for the Faculty of Composition, Theory of Music and Sound Engineering students and prof. Davide Bellugi from Florence, who took part in an Early Music seminar, concerts and gave lectures. The mobilities of the professors were highly marked by the whole academic staff. As far as the student mobilities are concerned, three students took part in SMS mobilities. Two instrumentalists went to Glasgow, the third one ? vocal ensemble conductor went to Rovigo. All of them spent one semester in the receiving institutions. On the return all students described their stay as a very satisfactory one and they declared their wish to take part in the programme again. They also showed a visible increase in many competences, not only substantive but also resulting from the wider goals of the programme ? pro-European and self-development competences. The analysis of the mobilities proves that the staff and students? access to the Erasmus+ programme influenced positively not only themselves but also the way the FNAM in Bydgoszcz is perceived ? as an important and precious European music centre; it also influenced the process of internalization of the academy and visible increase of the level of educating resulting from the gained experience and growth of consciousness as for the different esthetics, performance practice and teaching techniques.
