Higher education student and staff mobility project

Considering the current economic context and the location of our institution, with part of the surrounding population in a situation of disadvantage, performing an internship in Europe allows them to open new prospects for employment, training and skill preparation. The organization of these mobilities help our students to improve their professional level and social intercultural competences. Besides promoting the construction of a European Higher Education Area, contributing to the innovation process and the objectives described in the 2020 highlight, we aim to: * Help students adapt to European business market needs, and create new employment opportunities. * Facilitate the development of innovative practices in education, and the use of ICT's. * Develop specific competences, including language, and expand students' knowledge of the economic and social culture of the host country, while they gain work experience. * Promote relationships between educational institutions and businesses companies, in order to understand market needs and adapt curricular contents. * Contribute to personal student development, broadening their mind and adquiring international experience, in order to prepare skilled workers . In the academic year 2014-15, 4 mobilities were requested and we were granted only 2. Some students were not eligible for Erasmus ka 103 scholarships, and did not accept the possibility of a "zero grant" because they didn't have enough personal money to finance their stay abroad . About the two mobilities, one was conducted from September to December for 3 months. At the beginning of that month, online language support (OLS) wasn't available yet. The other mobility was conducted from May and we used a language license. The two mobilities were held in Dublin (Ireland). One was for a Senior Technical Secretary carrying out a period of three months in a nursery called "Roola Boola & Montessori", and the other mobility was for a Senior Technician in Computer Systems and Network Administration, in an Import Export company called "Total Produce". The two students completed their studies: in one case last course, and in the other on March 2015, with their work placement (FCT) pending. They were given a full coverage insurance fund, financed by our organization. An extensive monitoring plan was performed, naming individual tutors who could establish a permanent three-way communication (Company, Student and college) so we always knew the progress, difficulties, and problems, and were able to propose solutions almost immediately. The documents required by the Erasmus program (Grant agreements, training agreement, quality commitment, certficate accreditation of issuance, certificate of attendance (company and our institution) etc. and those required by our region before, during and after the mobilities were completed. Later we analyzed how much we largely reached our objectives, with particular emphasis on improving language skills; relations with host institutions, and the important experience and results for everyone. Below we describe the students results who were both offered jobs in Ireland and in Spain, and the positive impact of this program for the education community, as it increases participation and interest from both students and teachers.
