This is the first year that our Vocational Training Centre took part in the ERASMUS+ programme. This programme was addressed to second year students of the Advanced Vocational Training Module, and was intended to coincide with the Spanish “F.C.T” (Workplace Training).
The purpose for participating in this programme was to provide our students with the opportunity to complete their training with specific and significant (work) experience. The fact that this work experience has been carried out in an international context will provide additional benefits to their training period. All of our students have reached the targets set by the Vocational Training Programme and as well as achieving a significant language proficiency in Italian, the ability to adapt to another country, personal development, autonomy, and developing a sense of belonging to the European Union.
The project participants of the Vocational Training Centre are two companies located in Italy and three students. Two students from the automotive industry and one from the electrical industry. For the automotive industry the partner enterprise was the managing company of two authorised Mercedes-Benz Service Centres. Each student was assigned to a service centre which allowed the students to integrate more quickly in their work place and gain a faster comprehension of the Italian language. The third student, whose vocational training was in the electrical industry, completed his traineeship in the city of Bologna with a company that works in the network cabling industry. These students have completed their vocational training period of 370 hours in Workplace Training Centres in Italy.
This training period is compulsory for Vocational Training students. It is recognised with 22 ECTS credits and is certified by the Consejería de Educación de la Comunidad de Madrid (Regional Department of Education of Madrid) and through the EUROPASS document. Cooperation and communication between the Vocational Training Centre and the companies, as well as between the centre and the students, has been consistent before, during and after the mobility period. Linguistic support has been provided at all times, as well as accommodation and placement assistance at the time of the allocation.
The impact of the programme has been very positive for all the parties involved and has collected favourable assessments, highlighting the satisfaction of both the companies and the participants. As a result our Centre has earned recognition for its work and has made improvements to its institutional identity through the promotion of this successful programme.
