The main reason for TU Clausthal to participate in the Erasmus+-project is promoting and strenghtening the European Dimension on campus as well as in the region. That means - among others- increasing mobility flows in both directions and at all levels. We are confident that co-operating with our partner institutions under the framework of the Erasmus+-program will strengthen our mutual ties and may lead to double-/ joint degrees within the next five - ten years. Moreover participation in the Erasmus+-program provides students with a great opportunity for students to obtain international experience already during their studies. At the same time - upon returning to their home institution - they as well as faculty and staff bring (intercultural and international) knowledge back to their campus and thus help internationalizing. Last but not least students favor the Erasmus+-program over other exchange programs because recognition of credits achieved abroad is guaranteed at the home institution.
Under the scope of this financial agreement we sent out 58 students and 6 faculty/staff to partnering institutions. Distribution among BSc. and MSc.-students was roughly equal. All the students went for at least a semester of studies at cooperating institutions. Our biggest exchange partners were Tallinn University of Technology, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Tampere University of Technoplogy, Istanbul Technical University as well as Buskerud and Vestfold University College. In terms of outgoing teaching mobility flows faculty of the engineering subjects taught at Clausthal University of Technology has been more active than faculty of the natural sciences and business administration. Faculty went abroad for teaching purposes. Administrative staff mainly took part in "Staff Training Weeks".
Participation in the Erasmus+-program has led to a higher awareness of the necessity to participate in international projects, adding international aims to TU Clausthal's development plans and developing new forms of international cooperation.
