HIDROSOURCE - GESTION SOUTENABLE DES RESSOURCES FLUVIALES DANS L’EUROPE MERIDIONALE (HIDROSOURCE)
Date du début: 31 mars 2004, Date de fin: 30 déc. 2006 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The problem dealt with here is very serious, given the lack of suitable management across the whole of Europe. Thus, it is important to establish a joint strategy with respect to the water management necessary to enable a future increase in both available river flow and in the environmental quality of the water. Such surplus must preferably be used for increasing the capacity of the river network and the recovery of overexploited aquifers, the restoration of deteriorated swamplands and the recovery of riverside forests. Hence the need to establish a joint Sustainable Water Management Plan. Overall objective / Objectif général The main objective of the Individual Project “Hydrosource” is the interchange of experiences between the different public organisations in Portugal, Spain (the Duero River) and Italy (the Po River) with respect to methods aimed at implementing sustainable and joint water management activities. Expected results / Résultats attendus Socio-economic development - Adoption of a sustainable development model to manage river resources. - Creation of employment for women and young people. – Increase interregional cooperation and cultural exchanges. - Improvement of living conditions. - Evaluation of different riverresource aspects and the development of new sustainable activities (environment, culture, patrimony, history, tourism, etc.). Development of individual and collective activities that will enable the appropriate use river water in regional intervention areas. A series of indicators will be used to ascertain the resultant impact: number of activities, number of jobs created, number of river basins recovered, quality of the water etc.
