Hep! - Sosiaalisen vastuun kaupunkiseikkailijat
Date du début: 1 sept. 2012,
Hep! - Urban explorers of social responsibility (Hep! - Sosiaalisen vastuun kaupunkiseikkailijat) is a project where an urban 'scavenger hunt' in Helsinki setting is linked with thematic content of social responsibility. The project combines thematic content with physical experiences of urban space resulting in a unique reflection of participant's own stand in both the frame of social responsibility and the physical urban space. The goal of the project is to provide an experimental approach to reflections of themes of diversity and margins and to generate a more positive attitude towards these themes among the participants. In addition, the project aims at offering new ways of seeing and experiencing the urban public space and understanding one's position within it as an active urban citizen. The project consists of two parts. In the first part a concept of a 'scavenger hunt' is developed where themes of diversity, marginality and active urban citizenship provide a thematic frame for the action. 6-10 "checkpoints" will be developed for the scavenger hunt each of which approach a different aspect of the themes identified. Each checkpoint combines the thematic substance with a unique approach to the urban space used for the checkpoint. The concept will aim to combine a fun and adventurous experience of urban 'scavenger hunt' with socially educative awareness raising content. The concept developed will explore a new, innovative and fun way to learn and reflect about diversity, marginality and Helsinki as an urban context. In the second part of the project 4 scanvenger hunt sessions will be organized for 4 diverse target groups. The aim is that 3/4 of these groups are groups of young people with fewer opportunities. In this stage of the application process, these groups are identified as a group of unemployed young adults, a group of immigrant youth and group of youth with fewer socio-economical opportunities. Max. 16 participants take part in each of the sessions. All in all 64 young people will go through the 'scavenger hunt' session. Sessions will last max. 6 hours each of which four hours are spent completing the hunt and two hours are dedicated to the reflection and evaluation of the participants' experience. Participatory methods are used to evaluate the experience. The youth that participate in the hunt are also encouraged to reuse the concept within their own social networks. In this case, the applying group will provide tutoring for these initiatives.
