Healthy Taste of Culture
Date du début: 1 juin 2016, Date de fin: 31 déc. 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

"Healthy Taste of Culture" is a nine day long European Youth Exchange (Erasmus+KA1) which is fully based on approaches of non-formal education and is developed by young people from Finland, Georgia, Poland and Ukraine. The project aims to explore the culture of represented countries through Sports, Cuisine, and meaningful discussions. The leaders from the four countries met in Finland on an Erasmus+ rural study visit in 2015. This project is a very strong intercultural exchange for teenagers who are interested to know more about how different cultures work and discover new friends from those cultures. Each country is represented by 6 youngsters (age 15-17) and one group leader. Most Part of the project belongs and is lead by participant youngsters themselves. Group leaders of the project lead only the first and the last day of the Project. The rest of the days are divided between countries. Each day belongs to one country and is lead by participants from that country, without involvement of the group leader. To be prepared for this responsibility, participants have been involved in weekly meetings of intercultural clubs. These clubs were drown-up by each participating organization after the meeting in International Club Nykarleby on the study visit in Finland. The implementation of the project is planned for August 2016, in Georgia, particularly a small mountainous resort city Bakuriani, which is the healthiest place in Georgia for Summer season. The daily program of the project is divided in 3 main parts: 1) In the mornings we practice sports that have a significance for each country and analyze why are these particular sports popular/important in these countries and what influence does it have on peoples culture. 2) In the afternoons we have meaningful discussions or workshops about different components of cultures in each country. Except cultures of our countries, we also share our individual cultures with each other and find differences and similarities that we have. We learn from each other how to recognize negative and positive sides of different mass cultures and how to deal with it. The most important is to rediscover ourselves through our new experience and increased cultural awareness. Topics and activities for these discussions/workshops have been chosen and prepared by participants in advance: Finland - Cultural drama, Ukraine - War and Art, Georgia - Memory tags, Poland - Music. 3) The evenings are devoted to mutual culinary activities. We taste what people enjoy eating in other countries, and actually not just to taste it, but also to participate in its preparation. What does the cuisine and the way of enjoying it in each country say about the culture of people there? Meeting at this young age is an unique opportunity for participants of the project to build their European identity, become more open minded and value different cultures, improve learning abilities and foreign language skills, increase their self-esteem and in the future improve their career prospects.
