The Youth Exchange “HOLD ON” (Having an Objective Look at the Displaced; Overdiscriminate No-more!) emergesdfrom a group of youngsters actively involved with TACC who were worried about the existent social prejudices towards immigrants and refugees and the lack of knowledge about the social and political situation in Western Sahara. During 8 days the participants recorded a documentary that showed the personal stories of inmigrants and refugees from Western Sahara, trying to affect the percepction of the society towardst this collective of people. Organized by TACC bcn with the cooperation of 5 partner organizations from France, Bulgary, Italy, Latvia and Portugal, 38 participants from which 10 were youngsters with less opportunities, took part in the exchange. All the participants were youngsters aged between 17 and 30 years old who had artistic interests and social concerns. By using non-formal education methodology (acquisition of knowledge on the content of the documentary) and informal education methodology (exchange of practices among the participants through audio-visual means), it tried to eliminate the prejudices towards immigrants and refugees, more specifically towards social collectives coming from Western Sahara. Therefore, the participants filmed a documentary completely written, produced, filmed and edited by them which unveiled the personal stories of Sahrawis living in Sabadell and Barcelona. The audio-visual element was used as a vehicle of transmission of experiences and values looking to create an impact in the knowledge about the topic of the documentary among the youngsters and the society in general. During the exchange the youngsters were empowered for their daily life through the improvement of their communicative, creative and interpersonal abilities, having an special effect in their personal and professional life. The Project achieved the maximum level of dissemination in the countries of origin of the partner organizations, and is being sent to festivals, with the objective of creating an international impact of the content of the project and to give publicity to the Erasmus + program and its benefits. Our long term objective was to increase the professional capabilities of the youngsters, who improved their communicative abilities, their cultural sensitivity and creative capabilities applicable to their Jobs. Furthermore, the Project contributed to the expansion of the European spirit amongst the youngsters, creating ties between them and confirming Erasmus + as a tool of cohesion. Finally and most importantly, the Project had an impact on the perception of the society towards immigrants and refugees.
