Harmonization of Electronic Procurement Processes of the Health Care Sector in the Greece-Bulgaria Cross-Border Area (PROHEALTH)

The main objective of the project is to promote the collaboration between the local authorities of the GR-BG cross border area, the 4th Region Health Authority of Macedonia and Thrace and the Region Health Centre - Haskovo respectively, and to harmonize the practices in the electronic procurement processes that two authorities use. Furthermore, it aims at the establishment of effective and efficient electronic procurement processes for the aforementioned authorities. Specifically, the project will contribute in the achievement of the fundamental objectives as it contains the following actions: 1. The transfer of knowledge and know-how in the field of public electronic procurement for the health care sector in the cross-board area, 2. The development of an electronic procurement system for the Region Health Centre – Haskovo, 3. The training of the human resources that manages the procurement procedures, 4. The development of an integrated codification schema of the items for the health care sector that will be complied with international standards nomenclatures for medical equipment and reactive agents, 5. The development of an interoperability study in order to define how the electronic procurement systems will interact with other information systems of the organization and how it can be expanded in order to be operated by collaborative organizations. Expected Results: blishment of a cooperation network between the 4th RHAMT and the RHCH. Through this network the two organizations will harmonize their practices and procedures concerning the electronic procurement processes. This exchange of experience will result in the transformation of their procurement processes into more effective and efficient ones. More specifically, the project will result in:- the presentation of the electronic procurement system of the 4th RHAMT to the RHCH - the development of an electronic procurement system for the RHCH, with the guidance of the 4th RHAMT - the training of the personnel of both the 4th RHAMT and the RHCH in the new business processes and in the use of the electronic procurement systems in order to introduce the electronic procurement system in the every-day work of the personnel.- the development of an integrated codification schema for the items for the health care sector that will be complied with international standards nomenclatures for medical equipment and reactive agents (i.e. GMDN, EDMA respectively). This schema will be used by both the electronic procurement systems of the 4th RHAMT and the RHCH - the development of an interoperability study in order to define how the electronic procurement systems will interact with other information systems of the organization and how it can be expanded in order to be operated by collaborative organizations.
