Fruit producing means significant activity, work and income on both sides of the border. At the same time sales of fresh fruit is a huge problem during the last 10 years. Older fruit producing companies closed, and there is only some new ones. At the time of harvest the growers are surrenders themselves to the low price of buyers. Changes are needed in this field of agriculture. On the one hand cooperation is essential among the fruit growers, and on the other hand establishing quality products in the field of producing and marketing is necessary.This project tends to establish such a center (called Fruit house) which can fill this lack of agriculture. In the Centre of fruit product developing and marketig (=Fruit house) there is the possibility for fruit product developing (jams, liquers, wine, syrups) int he developing rooms and laboratoties. Professional advisors, researchers support the producers with free advise, conferences, forums and representing days. Thanks to the wide range of marketing activities the services of the center will be known by the producers of the cross border region, by the non profit sector (chamber of agriculture and further NGOs).The center will be able to serve as a business place, too ? besides product developing, several conferences, businessmen meetings, commercial days will be organized.This multifunctional centre could be a good example of new type of coordination and cooperatin int he field of friut product developing. Achievements: Fruit production is an important sector providing jobs or income in the middle of the programme area. However a constant problem that producers face is the sale of the fresh fruits. Former processing facilities have been closed or have degraded, while in the field of buyers monopolistic conditions have formed. The project\'s aim was to create an institution where the producers can increase the value of the fruit product with additional services in the field of food test analysis and control, marketing and branding services, conferences, workshops, courses and product exhibitions. The centre is located near the village of Nagykeresztúr in Hungary close to the border in order to provide services for local producers from both countries. The “Fruit house” is able to catalyse trade and business relations and cooperation through providing professional and technical background in food production, popularizing fruits and fruit products with an emphasis on local and regional traditions and interests.
