Within the framework of Erasmus+, 10 students of Minerva Technical School for Graduates attended the six-week, "Nursing and change of experience" internship in Rostock, Germany, between 12. 07. 2015. and 24. 08. 2015. The applicants were all from course 13 studying nursing, baby and child nursing, and child care. The program took place in 5 institutes of AWO-Sozialdienst Rostock, where the students worked in pairs. It must be mentioned that Minerva Technical School for Graduates had only 146 students at the beginning of 2014/2015 academic year, since its profile had to be changed in September 2014. The reason being that the state stopped subsidizing courses in tourism and logistics. As a result, a new situation arose, where new courses were introduced, for example in nursing or social care. Our objective was to look for foreign internship places for our new nursing students. The teachers of the school were determined to help students obtain a high-quality and certified foreign practice which could complement their professional qualification. After the introduction of the new professional courses, the school management decided to make every effort to improve the employability of our new students, both in Hungary and abroad. Program participants worked in pairs in 5 institutes of AWO Rostock: Pflegeheim „Haus am Bodden", "Plegeheim am Wasserturm”, " Alternative WohnOase", "Ambulanter Pflegedienst," "Seniorenzentrum Stadtweide". The participants were all female, aged 18-22. Out of the ten students one came from a Roma, two from a large, and two from a diadvantaged family. We paid special attention to them on the basis of equal opportunities. It is felt that they are the special "winners" of the program, both in terms of staying in profession, and the foreign experience. The work program was done on the basis of ECVET study units and outcomes, the steps of ECVET were also tested. Within these study units, candidates learnt the basic tasks of caring old-age people, and how to nurse them on a daily basis. Those practising with " Ambulanter Pflegedienst" studied the daily tasks of ambulant care, and learnt to carry out their tasks on their own. Students working in the "ALternative WohnOase" home acquired the complete care (washing, feeding, providing hygiene, proper treatment, communication, leisure activities) of disabled children. They could not have gained such an experience at their home school, as the Hungarian curriculum does not provide for it. We are going to decrease the number of ECVET study units and focus on practice and higher quality, as we have realized that we planned too many units. The application of ECVET was monitored by the co-ordinator, tha accompanying teacher, and the on-site mentor. At the end of the practice, receiving partners evaluated every participant in written, in detail, using 14 criteria. The strengths and weaknesses of beneficiaries were also assessed in oral. Beneficiaries evaluated themselves. We tested and corrected where necessary the ECVET assessment method. We are going to use it in the future, since it is the basis of acceptance of the practice by the school. At the end of the project we evaluated the completed work in a ceremony, where participants made presentations for other students, interested parents and invited guests, and Europass Mobility Certificates were handed out. We also invited our German partners to this event, and were happy to see our German mentor at this ceremony of passing Europass Mobility Certificates. It is a fact that more and more professionals are required in the Hungarian health sector, especially in the fields of nursing, caring old-age people, and looking after disabled people. This foreign internship positively contributed to this need, as our students got experience in a social care system which is much more developed than ours. It was a significant milestone for our institution to appear with the new social-health care profile on the international arena, to start and build foreign relationships in order to improve quality. In the 2016 project we are already present in three German regions. We wish to participate in dual training, therefore we would like to get into contact with schools as well.
