Guide for Employment

Guide for Employment is a two stage project which focused mainly on supporting youth development and employment in the EU and EECA region. The first stage of the „Guide for Employment“ project was a Training Course known as „Employment+“ which took place in Georgia, specifically in the city of Bakuriani from 23.05.2015 to 30.05.2015. The second stage was a Youth Exchange known as „Inclusion+“ which also took place in Georgia, but this time in the city of Kobuleti from 05.10.2015 to 12.10.2015. The main reason why we decided to do this project was the alarming situation regarding youth unemployment in Europe. According to many studies youth unemployment is one the biggest problems of modern day Europe and even though there are many factors contributing to this sad fact we also believe that one of the biggest reasons is the lack of personal skills and professional experience which would help unemployed youngsters in the competitive job market. Training Course „Employment+“ (First Stage) brought together 33 youngsters and youth leaders from 10 different EU and EECA countries. During the project participants gained useful knowledge about writing a proper CV and motivation letter, leadership and team work, creative ways of solving problems, time management and project management, making a good self presentation and they also learned how to act during an interview. Participants had the chance to plan, participate and learn about different youth activities and during the Training Course they were also informed about the activities which can be inplemented under Erasmus+ which gives them a chance to be actively involved in this programe. It is also important to mention that participants saw real examples of how active citizenship and volunteering can be usefull because the hosting organization arranged a meeting with youth workers and ex-volunteers who are very active in their fields and during this process participants made important contacts which will later help them on the job market. Overall it was a sharing of best practices. Youth Exchange „Inclusion+“ (Second Stage) brought together 52 youngsters and youth leaders from 10 different EU and EECA countries. Our main target group were youngsters with fewer opportunites and the most active and motivated participants of the previous stage („Employment+“) became leaders on this project. This way ex-participants of the previous stage had the chance to use their theoretical skill from the TC and share it with new participants of the YE. It is also important to mention that all participants of the YE had the chance to lead sessions in schools of Georgia which was a good example of peer education. Because a lot of young Georgians learn how to make handmade souveniers participants of the YE taught these local children how to make a good project out of a good idea, how to implement it and with the help of organizers they made an exhibition of their handmade souveniers. As a result participants learned how to create beautiful and unique things with their own hands and also they could use their project development skills in practice under the monitoring of organizers. Guide for Employment taught its participants some of the necessary skills to get employed, gave them the opportunity to learn more about Erasmus+, encouraged them to participate in youth work and it also gave them the chance to test their skills in practice. It was a personal development course for youngsters and youth workers who are just in the way of choosing their future professions. During many sessions participants learned how to write a CV and a motivational letter, how to make a good self presentation, how to act during an interview, the importance of leadership and team work and also project and time management. Participants also worked with peers with fewer opportunities and they saw the advantages of inclusion and cooperation. At the end of each stage (TC and YE) participants had the chance to plan future projects and work on the most problematic issues they face in their society.
