GREEN AGENTS - Active Citizens for a Sustainable Europe
Date du début: 1 juil. 2014, Date de fin: 1 nov. 2014 PROJET  TERMINÉ

CONTEXT/BACKGROUND: The GREEN AGENTS - ACTIVE CITIZENS FOR A SUSTAINABLE EUROPE training course is based upon the alarming facts of the environmental degradation and the effects that climate change has upon the humans well being. It is no longer a problem that will affect the generations to come, it is one that is affecting us too, and as a result action needs to be taken immediately. Given the global dimensions of this issue, a country-bounded approach is no longer recommended, not even one that would stick between the borders of the European Union. The project brings together for planning and sharing best practices 3 countries from the European Union- Romania, Italy and France and 2 countries from the Eastern Partnership - Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova. Botosani County, the project venue, holds common borders both with Ukraine and Moldova, and they are not only country borders, but also borders of the European Union with the 2 States. OBJECTIVES: The aim of the training course is to provide the participants with the fundamental knowledge and tools for disseminating environmental awareness and driving a change within and outside the European Union. To satisfy the aim, the following specific objectives will be sought: 1. Introduce a learner-based nonformal pilot programme , called the Green Agents Programme, by creating tools and developing implementation, assessment and certification methods; 2. Support the professional development of 15 youth workers from 3 Programme Countries (Romania, France, Italy) and 10 from 2 Partner Countries (Ukraine and Moldova) by organizing a training course within the pilot programme, in which they will be informed and taught on environmental issues (climate change, resources management and environmental degradation) and provided with tools to further disseminate the information - delivering the first 25 certified Green Agents; 3. Create an international network for knowhow sharing through a virtual platform that will be created within the project and self-sustained by the Green Agents, who will continuously update and spread information on the website; 4. Promote European youth active participation within the European Union but also in the Eastern Partner countries, through an initiative which is complementary to the EU External Actions in the area. NUMBER AND PROFILE OF PARTICIPANTS: The training course will involve 25 participants, 5 from each country. For the activities, each country will provide 1 trainer. The profile: no age limit, experienced as a youth worker and interested in environmental projects, gender equality. The trainers will have to prove background in the environmental field. DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES: The training course will cover areas such as climate change, ecosystems and environmental degradation and resources management and it will be executed with a mix of formal and non-formal learning sessions. The formal learning sessions such as traditional presentations of facts and information will be enhanced by nonformal games to learn in a relaxed setting, workshops to enhance thinking and collaboration, field trips to more easily appreciate a problem or solution and brainstorms to enhance creativity. METHODOLOGY TO BE USED IN CARRYING OUT PROJECT: For the project management, we will use the Project Cycle Managment methodology, and we will closely monitor the project through the Logical Framework Matrix. During the implementation of the activity we will use nonformal methods that will induce learner-centred experiential learning. SHORT DESCRIPTION OF RESULTS AND IMPACT: The project delivers: 1 pilot training programme that trains individuals to multiply environmental awareness in their own communities; 25 certified Green Agents; 1 toolkit for the Green Agents to use in the dissemination events; 5 trainers who teach an intercultural group of trainees; 1 network formed of 5 organisation from both Programme and Partner countries working together on the same pilot programme; 1 virtual platform; 1 Facebook page; 3 public administration institutions involved; 1 toolkit for the Green Agents. The project is the first step out of three for Green Agents certification. It supports both their personal and professional development, as well as of their organisations and communities. THE POTENTIAL LONG TERM BENEFITS: The project will by itself work as a dissemination of environmental awareness since it will provide the participants with tools and information to spread the knowledge in their home communities. However, more importantly the project will work as a step in a bigger, long-term project that will establish collaborations among EU- and non-EU states and disseminate environmental awareness that can achieve large-scale change within nations but also across national borders. The project will also be a lesson of active citizenship, promoting the strength of individual actions and their power to be part of that change that we are all waiting for.
