The following project is focused on the literary translation from Macedonian into Spanish of six theatre plays by the Macedonian playwright, screenwriter and essayist Goran Stefanovski.These plays will be published by Asociación de Directores de Escena (Spain) in three books and distributed in Spain and Latin América.Stefanovski is considered as one of the leading playwrights in Europe and one of the most representative writers from the Balkan countries. By publishing his works in Spanish we will provide an opening to Macedonian literature for the entire literary audience and theatre market from Spain, as well as Latin America. These literary translations create a direct communication between Spain and Macedonia as they maintain a connection between their artistic (literary) heritage and as cultural melting pots, both being a passageway into Central Europe.The following selection from his most important theatre plays is to be translated from Macedonian into Spanish:HOTEL EUROPA, EVERYMAN (An Immorality Play), SARAJEVO (Tales from a City), CERNODRINSKI SE VRAKJA DOMA (Chernodrinski Comes Back Home), DUPLO DNO (False Bottom), and DIVO MESO (Proud Flesh).The main objective of the translation proposed and its publication is not commercial, but fundamentally cultural, aiming at disseminating fundamental texts from the international theatre literature for Spanish speaking audience.
