Objective;
In 2014 the LA (Local Authorities) initiated the importance of international cooperation since it is included in the curriculum and that it is important. The LA introduced a strategic partnership with the UK based on leadership which was extremely interesting ;called Future School Leaders. Olovslundskolan then initiated a KA1 project based on new ideas learning from others in Europe but also to be mirrored by them. A strategic person, an international officer, Christina Erenvidh, helped developing the ideas into a project and she had the good connections with schools in Europe. The objective was to involve different sections of staff in European cooperation. Our former partners in London (Future School Leaders ) were very interested. We decided to go for nine persons from the staff, the first two went to Vilnius in LT, the next to London (UK) and then London again and finally Dublin (IR ). The head teacher and her controller also went to London to develop the contacts further.Our intention was to get as strong an impact as possible.
Involved were 9 staff, teachers, pre school staff, sparetime coordinators, the controller and the head teacher herself.
It was very important to let different staff participate to make them interested to be influenced by others and go European. The staff interested in participating was interviewed.
To Vilnius,Lithuania :Helen Hilmersson,F, after school activities, Linda Sagheim, F, teacher levels 4-6 ys,
To London, UK: Thomas Jäder, M, after school activities (nursery),Johan Åkerstedt, M, wood work teacher,
To Dublin, Ireland: Klara Janunger, F, class teacher, Jenny Johansson, F, teacher of PE, Yasemin Unver, F, class teacher
To London, UK. Helena Hägg, F, teacher 4-5, science, maths, technology, Åse Engström, F, teacher, English , PE.
The programs were disigned to give an insight into the ordinary life in the schools and included job shadowing colleagues,attending classes, meeting the school management, meet with subject coordinators, leisure activities and also by meeting different kinds of school environment for teaching/teaching . Many new methods and models were on display for our staff who has influenced them.
Everything was planned very carefully and the staff who applied and was interviewed was offered this unique possibility.
There were many things to prepare, to order tickets and make hotel arrangements and of course make sure everyone was insured. Most staff was prepared by the head teacher and in some cases the international officer was asked to prepare with contacts and with the actual plan for the visits. Then we had to inform parents and pupils.
Alfred Salter Primary School was already in cooperation but the schools in Vinius and in Dublin were new partners and the initial contacts were taken by the international officer. Well, they had been in Järfälla at a transversal visit in Järfälla earlier or they knew some contacts who had been in Järfälla who knew the international officer.
This way we found suitable partners who could receive our staff in the KA1 project " Go European"
In all there were nine persons in the staff, most of them teachers and also some leisure activity teachers/assistants.
The results we have acknowledged is the reception in Olovslundskolan which is a very positive thing . Every visitor has to pass to get a badge so that the school has a full picture of the visitors.
In the classes with teachers who went to Ireland they have there picked up the idea of cooperating together around the pupils and this enables the pupils to be included in different groups and levels and for the teachers to help and support the pupils better. In the leisure activities there is now more focus on the physical outdoor environment which has become more important and relevant and a wish is to close the outdoor enviroment during weekends and holidays to avoid vandalism. There is also a strong desire to receive colleagues from the hosting schools in coming to Olovslundskolan. Among the smaller kids the staff who went to Lithuania saw the colleagues initiate science projects and saw the possibilities with such projects. In the Schools in London and in Olovslundskolan they wanted to initiate a penpal project for the pupils in the two schools as a long term benefit.
