Our Erasmus+ project : “Go Ahead ! Europe” is part of our school’s development plan and is driven by our team of 4 business and sales teachers, 1 Transport teacher, 2 English teachers and the principal) . This enables us to put forward the idea of professional discovery, experiencing European citizenship and more generally human development for our students who will take a Sales/Retail/ Transport BTEC National exam following the curriculum in the professional subjects taught in English in DNL classes. Each participant can get an experience in a workplace situation thanks to this unique mobility experience; they become more autonomous and they develop their sense of responsibility.It also increases their employability. Language must also be taken into account as the aim is to travel abroad (London and Prague) but it is only one aspect of the project : it is not a prerequisite. The participants, aged from 16 to 18 years old have two hours of « DNL » classes per week : it is all bout communicating, learning about retail and transport and that enables them to get ready for their stay in a European country. They write their EuroCv, get ready for the DNL oral examination and for the option during the final exam. Prior to this, during their first year in vocational high school, the students benefit from an extra English class (one hour plus two hours, ie 3 hours in order to reinforce their skills). Then they’ll be able able to apply for the DNL section if they feel like it. The pedagogical team is in charge of the project abroad making sure all the garantees written in the established requirements are respected like making sure everything is fine in the families, organizing cultural excursions and assessing all the work placements. The implementation of the project is completely guided by the European developement plan and followed by the team who get together very often to check the project thanks to a self –assessment plan dealing with the project it self. The impact and the outcome of this European project enables our school to exert an influence locally and at the European level : - our project lies at the heart of region of Aquitaine Limousin Poitou Charente and supports local tourist, transport and commerce industries for which european knowledge is essential- our project is communicated thanks to Aquitec for instance, which is a renowned yearly student forum- thanks to the social networks- promotional ads in the Onisep brochure- Reinforcing the communication and strengthening the bonds with our partners In the long term, this mobility project “Go Ahead ! Europe” enables to add value to the pedagogical contents in St Genès, it thus offers a wider range of apprenticeships for current registered families and students but also potential ones, as well as our local partners (town hall , companies,…) and at the European level (partners, schools…)It is also a way of putting forward the tertiary branch of our school.
