“Give Peace a chance” is a youth exchange that tackles the theme of citizenship, inter-culture and peace, sharing the meanings between the participating countries. This project includes two countries: Latvia and France (host). The exchange will take place in Marmande. The target group is young people between 13 and 17 years, 23 participants in total. The idea of the exchange came to because the topics are current and need to be highlighted in every society, and we are lucky to have two different countries, with several different cultures and experience. This way we can learn from each other how to be tolerant, because we all have different views on the subjects. We can learn to be active citizens, because the experience and eagerness to discuss can light a fire in us, to want to change for the best. In addition, we can learn solidarity, because we might live in different societies and cultures, but we are all humans with the desire to live in peace, love and explore. The objectives of the exchange are; 1 – Promote citizenship on the base of European values and unity. 2 - Promote the involvement of young people living together, fostering intercultural dialogue and the meeting of different cultures. 3 – To highlight Peace education, through dialogue-work, history and the United Nations. 4 – To visualize our work locally, showing the community the abilities young people possess when guided and encouraged. All this will be possible through name-games, energizers and sharing of everyday life, that promotes group cohesion. The discovery of various cultures through creative presentations, dances, songs and theatre, will highlight the non-formal education. This project promotes discussions and dialogue between youngsters, as they are the next generation to develop and utilize these values, and they are the next generation that will have the opportunity to contribute and form their societies. We will represent the values of sharing, solidarity, openness and Peace to the world through United Nations. Because the UN is known for promoting these values and standing up for them, their work will inspire young people in the project to be active citizens, thereby making them ambassadors to influence other people in their societies to do the same. The project itself will be visible internationally through social media, and through local media. This project will leave an impact on each participant, making it a unique adventure.
