According to World Health Organisation, more than one billion people in the world live with some form of disability, of whom nearly 200 millon experience considerable difficulties in functioning. In the years ahead disability will be an even greater concern because its prevalence is on the rise. People with disability face more difficulties with education, social life, employment, transport and maintaining their daily life rather than the people without disablities. Removing the barriers to participation of the people with disability and revealing their potential into the surface should be our moral duty. With our Erasmus+ KA1 European Voluntary Service project "Give Me Your Hand", as an NGO, we aim to provide disabled people's integration into the society and make them feel as an individual who is accepted by the society. In the EVS project, which will take 17 months, we will host 6 volunteers coming from Germany, Spain, Slovenia, Poland, Portugal and Italy for 59 days - short term - in Sinop, Turkey. We are not going to ask for any criteria rather than the age limit. Because we would like to show everyone that this sacred duty is open to people who is wishing to commit it with their whole hearts. Our volunteers will carry out activities such as art, music, handicrafts, drama, dance, sports, games, etc that they are interested in for the disabled people who come to the rehabilitation center in order to provide them new skills and behaviors. In order to make them socialized and be affiliated by the society, the volunteers will participate these outdoor events such as entertainments, celebrations, fetivals, picnics, trips, sports events, plays, cinemas, exhibitions, workshops, concerts and dinners. Volunteers will produce a solid outcome such as a film, blog, exhibition, performance, concert, etc which they wish at the end of their activities. We will disseminate these outcomes via our web pages, social media tools and local newspapers. We will empower their participation in the society and raise awareness in the society. The project will also be one of the good practices for the policy-makers, practitioners, researchers, advocates and the people who would like to be volunteers in the diability field. The people who have disability in the project will not only feel themselves a part of the society, but also they will realize that the young people who are coming from distant lands for them, they will trust them, they will love them, they will be friends, they will share their secrets with them and they will see that their potentials are coming to surface. They will start developing themselves on the areas they are interested in. Thus, everybody will realize that disability need not be an obstacle to success.
