"Give Me a Chance“ (GMCH) is a Training Course that will focus on dealing with social exclusion and marginalization through a non formal education approach based on dance and music. It will gather 22 youth workers, social workers and youth leaders interested in developing their skills and competences in order to promote the sense of creativity among youngsters facing economic obstacles. The ultimate aim of the TC is to empower talented youth with fewer opportunities and give them a chance to promote themselves as well as to take part in an intercultural education initiative, thus coping with their social exclusion and marginalization. The project will be held in Paris, France.Duration of the project: 9 days (1 travel day included), August 31 – September 8, 2016.The countries involved in the project are the following: France, Italy, Spain, Romania, Greece, Bulgaria, Turkey, Slovakia, Germany and Poland, in total 22 participants ( 2 participants per each country, 3 participants per Italy and France ). There are many young talented people all over the world, who do not have an opportunity to show their abilities and talent. Such lack of opportunity often leads youngsters to lose their motivation , favours the development of a passive, rather than active and participative, attitude and of a feeling of self-loathing. The aforementioned factors represent one of the main triggers of a self-reinforcing cycle of social exclusion. In order to break this circle, a participative approach is called for whereby youngsters are given the chance to share their talent and their feelings among themselves being at the same time offered an opportunity to elaborate solutions as to how they might build their own skills in their life. The present project provides such approach through a set of Non Formal Education activities employing dance and music as the main educational media. The potential of dance and music in breaking prejudices and social exclusion as well as promoting active participation and involvement is supported and confirmed by a consolidated set of educational approaches as well as by a long record of socially-oriented projects and initiatives throughout the world.The Trainers will share their tested experience in the field and together with participants they will try to elaborate further music and dance tools to cope with social exclusion of youth with fewer opportunities. Afterwards the youth will be able to spread gained knowledge and experience in their home organizations and local societies. The overall aim of the project is to raise awareness about empowering talented youth with fever opportunities and to promote NFE methodologies as a tool to fight social exclusion and marginalization. The aims of the Training Course are: - to equip youth workers, social workers and potential youth leaders with new and creative NFE tools based on music and dance as a means to fight social exclusion and marginalization- to share best practice, tools and NFE educational methods to develop skills of talented youth- to raise awareness on young talented people with fewer opportunities and how to empower youth with fewer opportunities by means of art-to create a network of NFE professionals able to use music as an efficient educational tool to be recognized by stakeholders and policy makers.The objectives of the Training Course are:- to develop the potential and skills of youth workers, social workers and youth leaders by cooperation with experienced trainers, then to spread gained experience and knowledge in their societies. -to equip youth leaders and social workers with proper dissemination tools and platforms to promote youth initiative in the international field-to discover new dimensions of dance and music by learning from other cultures-to raise participants knowledge and gain new experience in the history of music and dance by intercultural exchangeThe project is specifically linked to KA-1 principles and objectives in that it will achieve the following KA-1 specific results: • increased sense of initiative and entrepreneurship;• increased self-empowerment and self-esteem;• improved foreign language competences; • enhanced intercultural awareness; • more active participation in society; • increased motivation for taking part in future (formal/non-formal) education or training after the mobility period abroadProject activities will develop/increase the following abilities in the frame work of the “Competences for Lifelong Learning” recognized by the European Union:• Communication in foreign languages (English);• Learning to Learn;• Social and Civic competences;• Sense of Initiative and Entrepreneurship;• Cultural Awareness and Expression;Organizers want to underline the importance of raising awareness on talented youth, who can not develop their talent because of their difficult economic situation.
