Girkalnis basic (low secondary) school is open to change, constantly learning and advancing school. We are well equipped with ICT, there are computers and projectors in every classroom, it is a good Internet access. A younger generation coming to school demands more innovation, innovative approaches, more interesting activities related to ICT. The teachers are willing to keep learning all the time to remain useful and interesting for their students, to be the well-oriented in a changing society. The main goals of the project “Competency Development of the staff of Girkalnis basic school" are expressed in the title of the project. It is - to improve teachers' digital literacy; to learn, to adapt and to use innovative teaching methods in practice; to access, modify, and apply new issues in school’s and class’ management. The project will involve the whole school staff. Teachers are active, constantly involved in various national and international programs and projects. During the project, 6 teachers will do job shadowing at partner school. They will have the ability to monitor, take notes and learn new innovative methods of teaching elementary subjects, English language classes and other observation work with students with special needs. As well, they will do job shadowing of integrated lessons, using ICT in all classes, as the Web 2.0 tools are used in educational process, and they will be able to learn and use these tools. Participants in the project will do job shadowing of class teachers’ and school head master’s and deputies’ job. Teachers will be able critically analyze, evaluate and adapt management innovations in their practice. At school courses for school staff and seminar for teachers of Raseiniai district will be held after mastering new skills. The project will be administered by the project coordinator, the team of evaluation of the project activities and results will be established. Project participants will do self assessments of their achievements, the evaluation team will evaluate the success of the project. Competence of using ICT in education will be higher, innovative teaching methods used in the classroom will raise students' motivation, academic knowledge, school management will gain a new positive change. Cooperation with partner school will lead to a higher level of understanding each other.
