For 9 days, 21 young people from Croatia, Romania and Bosnia and Herzegovina gained a valuable experience for their future steps in getting a job. 15 participants were facing different economical and social obstacles of which 2 Croatian participants came from foster care institution. The objectives of this youth exchange were to tackle the issue of unemployment and develop and improve the level of key competences and skills of young people, with a particular focus on young people that were not in employment. Through different activities, 21 young participants deepened their knowledge about skills necessary to search for a job and get a job, enhancing the communication and presentation skills and learning how to write a quality CV, how to act on a job interview. They had the chance to talk and interact directly with persons running their businesses to get inspired and learn: they had the visit of an important Croatian HR manager, they visited a small successful company led by a young entrepreneur that produces electromaterials, two local and successful handicrafts and a big international company running a factory. In this way they got an overview of the diversity of possibilities for their future and they understood deeply what are the key competences requested by the labor market. They actively participated various workshops, discussions and sharing sessions - about non verbal communication, tips and tricks for cv and how to stand out with a video cv, new tools for presentations, job interviews. All of them had the opportunity to really practice what they shared and learned: they had simulations in which they could excercise their job interviews skills and reflect on the outcomes, they had to create in group CVs for job positions they chose, they reflected about how non verbal communication is important. They had the opportunity to improve their negotiation skills through a challenge to sell an egg in the city of Samobor, they were successfull and creative and they spontaneously decided to buy with the money collected presents for children with fewer opportunities in organization for disadvanteged chidren, Nova škola, in Samobor. All the participants presented their personal action plans, with all the steps they would do in the next months to reach their dream job. They were encouraged to share their previous experiences and their worries about the future in order to think about new ideas/possibilities and to reinforce their strength points. Participants filled in questionnaire 4 months after the exchange to give us feedback about their successes in finding and getting and job and how did this project help them. We gained valuable information from this and measured the success of the project in this way. During the election day in Croatia they had activity which wasn´t planned initially, but we found it suitable and useful, in which they were divided in groups and they had to choose a leader to run for the European parliament. In this way they improved their presentation skills and they explored the possibility of a career in European institutions. They were learning from each other, sharing their skills and experiences. Outward Bound organized different activities using outdoor tools for learning. They received, but also researched and presented themselves, information about Erasmus+ opportunities for youth like youth exchanges and EVS. The project was promoted in the local community, participants integrated with the locals, spread the message of the project as well as spreading the info about the Erasmus+ program opportunities. Participants got to know a lot about local culture and customs as the locals welcomed them warmly.
