The project aims to develope a society inclusive towards every kind of diversity, especially about themes related to gender roles and expression. The main objective of the project is to provide to the partecipants exchange and confrontation occasions among different cultures, in order to raise awarness on the socially constructed nature of tradional gender roles; this will be achieved through theatrical and non formal educationl methodologies. The specific objectives are: create a safe space of exchange and discussion to raise awarness and knowledge in the partecipants about other cultures and other countries, developing active partecipation and citizenship; deepen concepts related to gender roles and expression; recognize and deconstruct stereotypes, prejudices and discrimination in gender and sexual identity area; use theatrical tools and methodologies to enforce one’s empathetic attitude; share similarities and differences of the social construction process of traditional gender roles; spread knowledge of the Erasmus Plus Programme. The activity involves 30 participants (5 from every partner organization), aged 18-25, able to communicate in English, selected on the ground of their motivation in meeting other cultures and their interest both in the topic of gender and in theatrical methodology, respecting the gender balance. The project foreseen 2 activities, described in the annex timetable. The first activity is a preliminary visit, based in Turin, which will gather the youth leader of each partner organization. The first and the last day to travel: the arrival is foreseen the 29/05/2015 and the departure the 01/06/2015. This visit aims to analyse the contexts of partner’s NGOs and the competences and expertise of each youth leader, in order to define the program of the YE in details. The second activity is a ten-days YE, based in Turin. The first and the last day to travel: the arrival is foreseen the 04/09/2015 and the departure the 13/09/2015. This activity aims to reflect on the traditional gender roles in the Mediterranean area, raising awareness on their sociocultural nature, in order to deconstruct the idea that they are innate. The participants will reflect on their own position in relation to traditional gender roles, discovering through theatrical methods new tools to express themselves freely, and they will create a final performance to be shown in public. Both activities will be participant-centred; working methods will be varied and interactive in order to ensure a balance between theory and practice. The participants will be introduced to different theatrical languages in order to create a final performance about the topics in which they will be actively involved. The direct beneficiary are the participants, who will take advantage from the activities during the YE. They will have the opportunity to experiment a direct exchange with youngsters coming from different Countries and different cultural backgrounds; this will empower the partecipants to recognize and contrast gender-based stereotypes, prejudices and discrimination. Moreover they will experience educational theatrical methodologies, which will enforce their empathetic attitude. Both aspects will hopefully contribute to their personal growing as active citizens. The long-term positive impact is linked to the role of participants as multipliers in their local contexts, by using the tools and best practices experienced. Moreover, as an output of the YE, participants will show in some public spaces the performance prepared during the week; the performance will be recorded, so that there will be a short film that will be shared on-line, as a tool to raise awareness in each Country involved in the project and promote the Erasmus Plus Programme.
