FUTURE PUBLIC ENERGY

The project objective was to reduce energy consumption in public buildings, which would result in lower emissions of CO2. Energy analyses were carried out to assess the actual status in four border regions, which served as basis for a comparative analysis. Energy monitoring systems were installed in three selected public buildings for target tracking of energy consumption. The basic instrument of energy management, Internet energy accounting, was developed and established. Achievements: A common methodology for the preparation of an energy analysis and review of public buildings was proposed and coordinated; this methodology was then used for energy reviews of 70 public buildings. These energy analyses were used to prepare a comparative analysis of energy efficiency of 70 public buildings, its results were published in a bi-lingual brochure. Energy monitoring systems were installed in three selected public buildings to monitor and help reduce energy consumption. LCD monitors were also installed in the same buildings which were used to inform inhabitants on the efficient use of energy and encourage them to change their habits. Internet energy accounting was developed and installed in 70 public buildings in all four border regions. For the promotion of the project the following was done: a common bi-lingual ID card, bilingual brochures, a common bilingual website, pressconferences and seminars were held in all participating cities; labels encouraging energy saving were prepared and an energy manual and leaflet were published.
