Further Development and Transfer of Competence Assessment Tools

The Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Union, including the Leonardo da Vinci Transfer of Innovation sub-programme grants projects to make use of previously developed products. In the “Further Development and Transfer of Competence Assessment Tools” project we are to expand the soft-skill competence assessment range of a formerly prepared software as the necessity of competence assessment instead of knowledge-based evaluation is rapidly gaining ground throughout Europe. The software is able to measure the soft-skill competences of students by drawing a cobweb-like chart showing the evaluation of two co-testers the student himself/herself and the teacher. This chart provides information to the student and the teacher about the competence state of the tested person. The main aim of the project is twofold. The first purpose is to further develop the system by adding new competence assessment features according to decision made by the partnership based on expert analyses implemented in all participating countries about the national soft-skill competence situation. The second aim is to add new language sets to the system, to facilitate the utilisation of the program in a multi-national dimension. The partners are to implement the translation of the existing software surface as well as providing their mother-tongue translations of the new features. The partnership consists of institutions from vocational training institutions and labour-market participants, all interested in the development of a soft-skill competence assessment of students or employees. We are also to have students of participating countries get involved in competence assessment, by which they will get a view of their human skill state or its development. It provides feedback for them, and will help them establishing an accurate self-image before stepping into the field of labour market. Teachers of vocational training institutions will have the opportunity to have their students’ competences tested, by which they can make proper decisions of further trainings. The main aim of our valorisation activities is to optimize the value of the project results. The private sector companies as well as the vocational training institutions will be provided a brochure showing all the features, possibilities and uses of the software system.
