FUND - Finding Utilities for New Dreams

The project FUND – Finding Utilities for New Dreams was a project focussed on enhancing youth organisations and youth workers with new competences on how to find funding methods for their projects and ideas. The objectives of the project were: • To develop possibilities for all partners to find funding methods for their ideas. • To train youth workers in gaining skills and competences in finding funding possibilities. • To let youth of the sending organizations organize a fundraising activity • To create a fundraising package and send it to 170 organisations (10 per partner) • To facilitate an intercultural learning experience for persons with fewer opportunities • By means of creative self-expression, providing the organisations with new skills, which will benefit them and their environment in the future • To highlight the intercultural dialogue as an opportunity to contribute to a diverse and dynamic society in Europe The project consisted of 4 stages: • Preparation: Online preparation and setting learning goals for the youth worker and sending organisation. • Training for youth workers • Post-training: put in practice what is learnt in the training and share best practices • Dissemination & evaluation The main activity of the project was a training in which 34 youth workers from 13 countries were invited to participate and trained by two Dutch trainers. The countries are: Netherlands, Portugal, Bulgaria Croatia, Poland, Italy (2 partners), Lithuania, Latvia (2 partners), Macedonia (3 partners), Greece, Romania, Slovakia and Azerbaijan. The youth workers are working in organisations who organize small scale activities on local and regional level. In total 17 organisations took part in this project. The training lasted for six working days in Olde Vechte, Ommen, The Netherlands working on the theme entrepreneurial learning and creativity + culture through training youth workers in order to gain skills and competences in fundraising, sponsoring, grantmaking, Corporate Social Responsibility, etc. The training is based on experiential and non-formal learning, using the tools:, role play activities, real-life experience, media assignments, community work, feedback, teamwork and simulation games. The impact of the project consisted of new competences and methods for youth workers and organisations on how to find alternative funding methods for their ideas and projects. In this way they are able to organize more local activities and empower their target group to do fundraising activities themselves to increase the quality of life in their community. The final product is a sustainable fundraising package in which a methodologically description is given on how to get started in finding funds, sponsors, donors, etc. and how to step-by-step achieve results.
