International training course "From the Woods to Labour Market" on personal development through outdoor education will gather 30 participants from Belarus, Georgia, Armenia, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. The project aims to develop competences of sport coaches /youth workers for increasing youth employability by fostering personal development of young people through outdoor education.
During the training course space will be created to explore the topics of youth employability, non-formal education and key competences developed in its framework, learning to apply special methodology – outdoor education - which is a powerful tool for developing “soft skills” of young people like adaptability, dealing with challenges and stress, working in a group and leadership, decision-making, communication and others needed for becoming more competitive and have easier access to the labour market.
Specific objectives of the training are:
- To develop sport coaches/youth workers understanding of employability and key competences of young people required for enabling easier access to labour market;
- To explore methodology of outdoor education and non-formal learning and review it’s practical application for personal development of young people;
- To introduce mechanisms and tools for recognition and transfer of learning experiences of young people gained through non-formal and outdoor education at the labour market, for studies and professional development;
- To develop the practical methodology of outdoor education to be integrated and applied in the programmes, projects and everyday practices of sport coaches/youth workers for developing competences of young people needed for becoming more employable;
- To promote Erasmus + among sport coaches/youth workers from participating countries as a tool for developing projects focusing on youth employability, personal development and outdoor education.
The target group of the project are sport coaches and youth workers active locally and internationally willing to increase their capacity to apply outdoor education as powerful tool for personal development of young people and helping them to improve soft skills required for becoming more employable at labour market. Sport coaches and youth workers will be coming from Russian speaking communities and having bad or none English language skills and thus the training course will be held in Russian in order for participants to learn and communicate in the most efficient way.
The trainers team will use maximum variety and creativity of the methods during the training course in order to ensure that participants can apply those methods back in their organizations and when working with young people in local communities. However, the emphasis during the training will be put on applying “outdoor education” and key tool for youth work.
Other working methods will be: Workshops, Theoretical Inputs, Presentations,Group activities (group tasks/exercises), Small working groups, Buzz groups, Personal, group, and meta reflections, Simulations.
The trainer team will be following non-formal education methodological principles and humanistic educational philosophy, experiential learning methodology. Balance between theoretical inputs, practical tasks, skill development and linking the learning of participants to their reality will be assured.
Participants will understand what is “employability” and which competences are needed for young people to become more employable; participants will develop their personal methodological approach when working with young people on personal development - learn principles, methods of non-formal education and their practical application in youth work; participants will understand how to ensure recognition of non-formal learning by using Youthpass as a tool for reflection on personal non-formal learning process and tool for increasing employability of young people.
Among specific skills will be the ability to work with outdoor education – practical use of outdoor for personal development, being able to plan and organize learning process using outdoor as experiential learning tool, managing and ensuring safety (both physical and mental) of young people during outdoor, ability to run proper debriefing and organize reflection in the group of young people after outdoor experience, being able to facilitate the process of self-assessment, peer feedback and drawing out conclusions to be linked with future life.
Participants will develop their own educational programmes and international projects within Erasmus + programme on the topics of personal development, outdoor and non-formal education, increasing emloyability of young people.
